Lupita actually gave a better mo-cap performance than Andy Serkis

I was underwhelmed by all creature CGI quite frankly just was not up to ILM Standards if you ask me. Especially the scenes on Han's Freighter...Just cut all that if you ask me.

Because of the original yoda concept being LITERALLY a monkey in a suit, I was joking about how Maz could have been done with a literal monkey in a suit because of how bad the CGI looked to me .

The only actor that was underwhelming was Christie and I think that was just the hand she was given. I think for what we needed to see of Snoke, that Serkis did very well. His CGI Snoke is certainly more imposing than Ian McGregor's monkey suit Palpatine. Maz was interesting, but I do not see her returning to the trilogy.

Lupita is already confirmed for the next episode. I'm guessing she has a few more secrets in that wooden box of hers. They made her a collector for a reason, I think.

Princess Leia's first holographic appearance was shot on circa 1975 Reel-to-Reel Videotape, then played back through a TV set (a 525-lines/inch cathode ray tube), and filmed off that screen.

    Much lower quality than a PS2! :)

Degraded image is part of the whole Star Wars Hologram look.

I wouldn't say her acting , but more that she needed up being downplayed, not her fault though .

I wasn't impressed with the Snoke CGI, but I don't know if that's Andy Serkis's fault.

Lupita did a great job, though, as did Maz's animators. She had life and soul and history... she felt like a person. Not something you can say about a lot of prequel CG characters.

I do believe alot of the cuts in the film involved Maz, and Leia, especially dialogue between them and Han Solo. For whatever reason. Serkis though? People have different taste. I enjoyed Snoke, and this was his introduction. Theres a reason they said Snoke, Phasma and a few other villains will have bigger roles in Episode 8 which is rumored to be more Empire Strikes Back. Villains will shine and make an impact next film. This was about introducing and reintroducing the new/old heroes.

I think they both did equally as well, Snoke is just that more mysterious than Maz she was very open & more to do in her scene with Rey.

I liked Maz and Snoke. Wasn't disappointed with either. To me, being disappointed with Snoke is like someone being disappointed with the Emperor in Empire.
I think Snoke is fascinating and once he is fully introduced could rival all of the existing villains

Lupita's voice work was inconsistent and she felt disconnected from the character at times in my opinion.. Maz Kanata was the one thing I didn't connect with. I'm sad she wasn't blown up along with the castle.

    Goddamn overrated oscar winners..
