I've said this before and yes I totally agree, there is a high probability this might have happened.
If I were JJ and wanted to keep the mystery of the movie from being spoiled I would do exactly that.
Leak an incomplete shot list/call sheet, change 1 or 2 key scenes, job done.

Yeah, me too. Han gets killed by his own son? What???

Han and Leia not together (although I don't believe this)? What???

No reunion of the Big 3 (again Mark Hamill debunked this somewhat)? What???

If you're still in denial over MSW, I don't know what to say to you honestly. I guess you can always hide behind the tiny sliver of doubt until the film is released but looking at everything that's come out, it has matched up almost perfectly. It's one thing to believe there are a few extra scenes that were shot in very secretive/closed sets (which I'm sure they did) but to doubt the whole plot? Hell, even the leaked soundtrack titles have pretty much hit the MSW beats.

Hey, I dislike Jason Ward as much as the next guy but...

LMFAO, you list a couple of crappy AICN sources?
Harry Know-Less was an also-ran of prequel spoilers. He consistently posted laughable made-up garbage with stupid comments like "GEORGE IS BRILLIANT!! SHAPE-CHANGING GUNGAN BATTLE DROIDS! YESSSSS"

Harry Knowles' crap-brown website was the equivalent of https://www.reddit.com/r/starwarsspeculation/ e.g."I've seen the movie three times. Ask me anything... Have you no honor? Fight Me! My baby girl, etc etc"

The real deal was reported by sites like Aldera, TFN, Episode-X, T-Bone's starwarz site, my site (prequel-spoilers.com), Dark Horizons, and others. We all had the same material and more or less the same handful of sources. Of course, there was also Roderick Vonhogen's wonderful "Virtual Theater" as well.

AICN was a joke. I dare you to google Star Wars spoilers posted at AICN in the months before release of any of the prequels; be ready for a good laugh.

    EDIT:
Quick google, and now I remember why AICN became a joke for the prequels.
Harry and his buddies eventually got their hands on the "The Beginning" script (and so did I and many others); Harry and Moriarty had laughably fawning reviews...

"You can’t possibly know how textured and wonderful the story Lucas has to tell is going to be."
"Considering how he’s always doubted himself as a writer, I think it showed remarkable confidence in not putting this script through another writer... Even the wonderful Frank Darabont would have diluted it, simply because what we got wouldn’t be pure Lucas anymore."
"...these are real characters that are instantly iconic, but also truly human."
"This script balances the humor with honest, direct writing that gives Jar Jar (dare I say?) a soul. He may be a sidekick, but here’s betting that Jar Jar Binks becomes one of the biggest EPISODE I stars once audiences get their real introduction."

MSW's awful outline is all true. Let's just all accept it and start the grieving process....we have nothing to lose if it isn't.

No Luke, Han, and Leia interaction with each other, Luke only gets a brief cameo and does nothing (no epic return of the green lightsaber, etc), and on top of all that they kill Han Solo, guaranteeing we will never see the big 3 together again, ever, effectively wasting a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The filmmakers are that out of touch.

Let's just try to enjoy the other things in the film like the cool X-wing VS TIE fighter battles, seeing the Millennium Falcon again, the special effects, and John Williams' new score.

And we can enjoy a fantastic performance from Harrison Ford as Han Solo at least, even if all of that other MSW awfulness ends up being true.

Harry Knowles has been irrelevant for a while now. He's been replaced by countless other bloggers. Point is regardless of whether you find Jason Ward to be insufferable, what he's posted since early spring has been mostly spot-on and has lined up with all the official footage we've seen.

    Keep optimistic! :)

If Han gets killed by his own son, there WILL be a huge backlash by fans who aren't aware of this. And there are many.

Why is having the OT trio on screen together that huge of a deal though? They didn't spend a lot of the OT together and as early as ESB they already planted the seeds that Luke would go off on his own down the line. It's not like they were Harry, Ron and Hermione who went camping for an entire 2 hour movie.

To be honest, even though it is absolutely crushing to me that we'll never get to see the big 3 together again, and that Luke only appears as a voiceless cameo for 2 seconds and does nothing and that it's the most wasted opportunity ever, we still get to see Han Solo, at least, and that's still more than many of us ever expected we'd ever see again with Star Wars at all. It's still really amazing that we even get to see that. So hey....that's still pretty cool, right?

That's why I want to find out if this awful Luke cameo stuff is true or not so I can mentally psych myself up for stuff I know I'll enjoy about the film and just like it at that level and still have a somewhat enjoyable film experience.

Where are people getting the "backlash' ideas from even. If a major character's death doesn't sadden and anger you and make you afraid that anyone could be next, then the writing didn't do its job.

    Are you serious with this?

    Lmao...

Well, for starters, they've ALWAYS had scenes together. In EVERY film. It's expected. When last we saw them, they were all together. It's iconic, it's everything you could want as a fan of those characters, to see them together again. What are they like around each other now? How do they act? What did they all do with the news they learned about each other in Return Of The Jedi? This would be incredible to see!

You must be joking pretending like you wouldn't be interested in this....

Where did Ward come from before MSW?
Tumblr that's where. Before he started msw he was running a Tumblr page just posting various star wars related pics

There would be backlash for the wrong reasons: mishandling and wasting the character, crap writing, not out of bittersweet shock and sadness to see a beloved hero go. More like anger over how it was handled, and less that it happened in general.
