I am currently listening to a playlist with all the music from the ST, and found myself wanting to talk about it again. In the long wait from the announcement of the ST, what I was most excited for was to hear more Star Wars music from John Williams. He is my favorite composer of movie music, and I spend more time listening to his scores than any other music. And luckily, he was able to come back for both episode VIII and IX. While it's hard to top all the great pieces he allrady delivered in the OT and PT, I think his work on the ST is fantastic, and there are many new themes that have become favorites of mine. Here are some of my favorite tracks from the ST.

And of course, I also like the usage of the old themes. The force theme has been utilized and incorporated heavily into all 3 movies, and I really liked hearing both Vader and Palpatine's themes here and there. What do you think of John Williams scores for the sequel trilogy?

    I really liked.

Williams created such good themes for this ST.
Reys and Kylo's theme are pretty amazing and remarkable
Jedi Steps, March the Resistance and Fun with Finn and Rose are one of my favs also.

Even though the score of the ST has its moments, it's still the weakest of all trilogies. Mainly because - just like the movies themselves - JW relied to much on nostalgia and old themes. For example the 'Force Theme' was used way too much, it didn't feel special anylonger.

But my favorite tracks of each movies are:

    TFA:

    TLJ:

    TROS:

    Force Awakens

    Last Jedi

    Rise of Skywalker

I have no favourite yet, to be honest I didn't take the time listening to the soundtrack yet, only skipped through.

I recomend taking a listen to the title track "The Rise of Skywalker". I think it's my favorite Williams theme in recent years.

Correct, Rey's theme is played in the track called "The Scavenger", which plays when Rey is introduced. I think it's a really wonderful scene, and the music elevates it to another level. I still get goosbumps from the section that play's when she flies away on her speeder.

I love those soundtracks! Especially The Imperial March. Since its May the 4th, decided to do a short piano cover. The hair is not quite like Princess Leia, but you get the drift! (The Force Theme & Imperial March Medley). Hope you like it!

TFA and TLJ soundtracks are great (Rey’s theme is one of the best of the Saga). I didn’t care for TROS soundtrack as there was nothing memorable like you get with each new SW movie. From what I read, that may not be John Williams fault and more an editing problem. The rumor is they did reshoots and restructured the movie more than previous Saga movies so some of Williams music got put in a different context cause they cut short/edited many scenes.

I agree that there could have been more new material, but there is still a lot I appreciate about the TROS score. Like how they alter Kylo Ren's theme when he is redeemed (notice how it sounds when he arrives at Exagol to help Rey). Same goes for the "triumphant" sounding version of Rey's theme that plays when she returns to the Resistance base at the end. The usage of OT themes was a little less restricted in this one compared to TFA and TLJ, and there were some moments that were a little jarring to me (like when Luke and Leia's theme plays in the resistance base when the rebels are celebrating. Didn't feel right to me this time).

I would still say that the new theme John Williams wrote for this movie, in the track "The Rise of Skywalker" is very memorable and beatiful, and a track that stands out in the ST musical catalogue. Most of the memorable themes of the ST were established in TFA, but Rose's theme from TLJ and the previously mentioned "The Rise of Skywalker" are great additions in my opinion.

This is interesting. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the case. I enjoyed the Sequel Trilogy’s music from beginning to end, and there were definitely moments within The Rise of Skywalker’s score that I found myself revisiting frequently. However, a significant portion of it –– including Ben Solo’s theme, which is a pretty important moment, both narratively and musically, in the film –– was cut from the soundtrack. I also felt like it was weird that certain themes were underused. For example, Leia’s theme was overlooked for much of the film even though the film was largely a tribute to her. It also felt weird to use “Luke and Leia” as the victory theme at the end of the film when the Resistance is celebrating at their base on Ajan Kloss.

For me, though, one of the biggest mistakes made with the score –– and one that I would suspect is more on Disney/Lucasfilm than John Williams –– was the omission of “Duel of the Fates.” It was used in one or two of the TV spots for the film, and according to John’s brother, he did re-record that theme for The Rise of Skywalker. The fact that it wasn’t used during Rey and Kylo’s fight on the Death Star wreckage was such a huge disappointment.

Overall, though, I think John did a fantastic job scoring the sequels, as always.

I agree 100 % about the usage of Luke and Leia's theme. I loved how it was used in TLJ, but it just felt confusing to hear it this time. And what a missed opportunity to not use Duel of the Fates if they actually RECORDED a version of it for the movie.

Yeah, I really felt like “Luke and Leia” was an odd choice for the end of the film. I mean, hell, it would’ve made more sense to interpolate that into the Force theme when their ghosts appear to Rey in the epilogue. At first, I felt like they might’ve used that theme for the broader theme of familial revelations, being that it was first used when Leia was revealed to be Luke’s sister, and in this context, there were clear implications that Jannah could be Lando’s daughter. But there’s so much ambiguity there, and I still feel like, if that was the goal, they should’ve created a new piece of music to use there. “Luke and Leia” really works best when used for those characters specifically, and that’s why it worked as well as it did in The Last Jedi.

As far as “Duel of the Fates” goes, apparently a lot of fans agree on that one. There’s SEVERAL fan edits on YouTube that have rescored the entire battle between Rey and Kylo in The Rise of Skywalker with “Duel of the Fates.” Even though I might not necessarily agree with every choice in a Star Wars film, there are typically few things that I’d actually change about them. This is one thing, though, that I absolutely would change in a heartbeat. I was really disappointed that “Duel of the Fates” wasn’t featured in the film at all, and the Death Star duel seemed like the perfect place to use it. It’s a shame they didn’t.

It's a very haunting melody. That takes on a completely different tones as the films go on and her story becomes darker. I am so happy that the film makers didn't just gloss over her abandonment issues. If you go on YT there are probably at least 10 fan made variations on Rey's theme which shows how much people like the theme and have been affected by it. My favourite theme is the one by Samuel Kim

For those of you who like the TROS soundtrack there's an expanded edition for sale:

Honestly, other than Rey's Theme (or whatever it's actually called), I can't remember a single other ST theme from memory to hum or whistle.

However, play me any other theme from the first six films, I can tell you with 100% certainty from which film and from which scene they are from. But I can't do that with the ST themes.

The ST themes have literally been forgetful and the weakest in all the Star Wars films.

One of the tracks that I love from TROS was the training course and was disappointed that they never had it in the soundtrack. I ended up finding a fan edit with the dialogue stripped:

I'll let you know when I receive it. But I can't testify on the legality.

Can't say that I agree with you on that one. I think the ST is about equally as good as as the PT when it comes to themes, maybe even better in some ways. But I respect your opinion, and I have talked to several people who agree with you as well.
