RUMOR New TFA release date?

I think it is likely to stay at the December release date but you can't rule out an earlier release. Looking up upcoming movies for the year on Flixster there still is no mention of TFA for December (or any date for that matter). Just have always found that odd. If JJ wants it moved and Disney finds it beneficial, there is a possibility it could move. Just not very probable.

 

So the internet is finally bored of delay rumors

 

Impossible for summer release. He's still editing the cut of the movie, then there's recording ADR, sound fx, John Williams has to compose and record the soundtrack, there's way too much to do. Oh yeah and don't forget about re shoots.

 

Remember they weren't going to put out the teaser in November, but they catered to the fans because of the anticipation.

If they did move it up to the summer, I would be totally fine with them not showing Luke, Leia & Han in any trailer as it would make it that much special for the movie. 10 1/2 months still feels like an eternity but 3-4 months would fly by if it was released in the summer!

 

As much as it's killing me, I hope it stays for a December release because I want it to be right. Not a rushed product full of mistakes.

 

It depends, I don't want them to rush things (TPM style).

However, I think August is a good release date ( 4 months earlier ).. I mean Post Production started a while ago and by the look of a teaser they did a good job so far. So teaser was released in November. and 9 more months of work after that seems like enough.. I dont know

 

I would agree with you if Disney were pushing Abrams to get the film ready earlier, but if JJ wants to move it up I trust that he knows he has enough time to get film ready.

 

If they're truly worried about leaks then I think they should give little more of a glimpse than they have. Think about this. If the info comes from the main source and there are scheduled releases of (perhaps meaningless but still cool) concept art or character names (could be characters that have names but have no purpose for the story) just to give us something and keep the hackers at bay. Maybe that wouldn't work and I'm crazy but I feel like the only reason there are so many leaks is because it is so secretive. And I'm not saying it shouldn't be secretive. But why release a teaser 13 months before a film if you're wait another 6 or 7 months to release any other kind of official material? Seems like a poor strategy and it's blown up in their faces.

On another note I hate that Hamill and JJ are all talking about how they hate leaks because more than likely that means that one of the "sourced" reports we've heard is spot on and we all know the plot. Hahaha

I'd believe Poe cause he flies an x-wing, might be the true owner of BB-8, may get put in the brig with Finn, escape with the help of Rey, fly off the planet with Han and find Luke...whoops I said too much.

To be honest I don't think it's that much of an issue to know the plot to a Star Wars movie, it's such an overwhelming experience that there's tons more to be excited about than the plot, the music.. little details and the action sequences will make everyone forget about it.

 

I understand that JJ & Disney want to be secretive about the movie, but there is only so much they can do about leaks? The way I look at it, there are fans that are actively looking for spoilers and fans like me who are mostly avoiding spoilers except trailers, interviews, etc. Nothing is going to deter us from seeing the movie.

The only thing I can think of (and this is just my assumption), but could there be some HUGE plot twist in the movie that they don't want leaked out? It is one thing for fans to read spoilers, but its another thing if its an 'I am your father' plot twist that will ruin the movie for everyone? Again, I am just speculating, but I would still love if the movie came out in the summer cause I can't wait!!!!!

Leaks happen all the time, and the story to TFA will be fully known before it premieres theatrically. Even back in 1980 and 1983 I knew the entire script of ESB and ROJ from comics and novels before I ventured into the cinema - they didn't hurt my enjoyment, in fact they were the ultimate form of hype

 

IF he actually did say he wanted it moved up it was probably in a joking way because we know he loves all the secrecy behind his films.
Disney makes the final call on this stuff no matter how much JJ likes his mystery box to stay a mystery.
I don't see them changing the date unless a COLOSSAL leak happened like actual footage got out somehow.

 

Yeah this isn't gonna happen guys. Disney has been firm on Dec ever since last year JJ and KK have been begging for the May 2016 release date. It's nothing new.

 

Yeah I could see that too. Disney would want people to see the movie before Christmas season to push toys. I'm sure the toys will still sell pretty good regardless but not as well as if there were enough time between the movie release and Christmas.
