I liked how in ROTJ Sidious was tossed into the center of the deathstar just before it was blown up and the deathstar just became nothiness, empty space, after Han falls into Starkiller and it's blown up it becomes a sun instead.

I know that's not the main reason it becomes a sun, but i like to think theres a bit of a parallel there and says something about the difference between what happens to light and dark characters when they die.

The thing I find pretty cool is that Han was a racing pilot after ROTJ per the ne Cisual
    dictionary.

I just wish there was more of a feint with Han's death scene. I knew he was going to die the minute he walked out on the walkway. I would have written Kylo takes off his helmet and they have their conversation and then Kylo should have dropped his helmet down the pit and as they both look at it fall Han tells him lets go home and when Han turns around the light fads and Kylo stabs him through the back. Han looks down at the lightsaber and then up to Chewie, Finn and Rey. Kylo steps around to face Han, Han touches his face and falls and then Chewie shots Kylo. I want more of a moment when we really think Kylo might turn good and more of a surprise when he doesn't.

It didn't bother me. I called his death the moment that it was confirmed that Ford was coming back. It didn't make the scene any less powerful for me. Plus you had Ford and Adam Driver REALLY selling it.

Oh and Chewie and Rey's grief-filled rampages were really well-done as well, especially Chewie's.

Yes, agreed. I won't be posting too much in this forum anyway. I enjoyed the movie a lot, but what they did to Han and Leia really, really still bothers me. I work and have my other hobbies, but ruining my couple really bothers me. Maybe it shouldn't, but it does. I really don't like where this went, and they really hurt Leia's character by having so much tragedy happen to her (and to her family as well).

It's been so many years, and I never, ever thought that I'd see Luke, Leia, and Han on the big screen again. And to have a dream like that come true, it was like, "Wow. Unbelievable." I still can't wrap my head around the fact that the producers/writers could do that to fans like me. I understand that not everyone agrees-and that's their prerogative-but it's really soured me to the franchise. I'm going into more fanfic now.

I saw that Harrison Ford might appear in VIII. I could see him appearing in a flashback or perhaps as a ghost. Don't forget that he doesn't have to appear as a "force ghost," just a ghost. I would imagine that the PTB wouldn't even give us a flashback of him with Leia, which is what I'd like to see. However, I won't be seeing the movie whatever happens. It's great to alienate a segment of the fanbase...

Great forum. I still love reading people's posts, but I won't be posting much. Best.

I nearly walked out of the theater and I could not enjoy the remainder of the movie after the murder of Han Solo. I was furious. My favorite movie character of all time and he just gets straight up murdered right in front of me.

I could say more, but as another film from my early childhood states: "If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all." ;)

Because that's what good storytelling often is. They had to do what they thought was best for the story moving forward, and some fans being angry was inevitable. Heck with a fanbase as polarized as SW, they were going to anger at least some no matter what they did with this film.

Imo, his death was well-done, made sense both for this story and his overall arc going back to ANH, and I'm pretty sure that it continue to factor in moving forward. Because you have multiple characters who would be deeply affected by his death. Leia, Luke, Ben, Rey, Chewie, even Lando should he return.

That's just an excuse writers use to justify taking liberties with the source material. ;) "We're gonna make people mad anyway, might as well just do whatever the heck we want." :D

After a lot of thought, I agree that Han's death would have been a fitting plot point for the story. The issue I take with it is the manner in which it was done. Words cannot express how much I despise the use of murder as a plot point. He could have been killed almost any other way and I would have been simply sad and disappointed, but still might have been able to enjoy the rest of the film. But it is what it is, and seeing Han Solo murdered once is one time too many for me. :(

Obviously it was a hard hit for me, since I like Han and Leia a lot but it is what it is. It is sort of bitter-sweet now to see the OT knowing what will happen but, such is life. Either that or watching too much Game of Thrones has impacted me whenever a character that I like dies.

I saw it again last Sunday and I couldn't help but cry at the scene. Great performance by Harrison and Adam.

I love all the Han scenes from the OT but the one I think it's funny is his face when Leia tells her that she can feel that Luke survived the Second Death Star. That face looks a lot like a Ron Weasley one, it's funny and cute at the same time.

I really like Han's lines in the first act of ROTJ.

    How we doin kid?
    Same as always?
    That bad huh?

Don't worry, I've taken care of everything.
    (rolls eyes) Great

But really, Harrison Ford just about nailed everything, and is largely responsible for the feel of the OT. Ford wasn't playing Solo so much as Ford was Solo.

Han Solo ((Harrison Ford)) wanted to PASS OVER way way way back in the day ((ROTJ - - 1983))... this time around, they HAD TO kill him off, because, if they didn't KILL him, Ford would not have come back for this movie ((Episode: 7)) - - Harrison Ford was paid 25 million ((US Dollars)) to come into work that first day.... if i got PAID 25 MILLION US DOLLARS, i would have been killed off, same as Ford!!
