Nice. If true that would explain why this would be a one off rather than a series.

There’s something on the news that I feel is not being reported enough, (and I feel it is strongly linked to Star Wars’ future.)
The new head of Disney announced that the corporation is being severely restructured with a major realignment of Disney+ streaming taking the forefront. This is huge news- Disney+ is, at the moment, more important than their own theme parks, DVDs and anything else!
What does this mean for Star Wars?
With the Mandalorian clearly the most successful original programming draw:
Hopefully, they will accelerate the production of Kenobi and Andor.
Hopefully, they will greenlight many more live action shows.
Hopefully, they will greenlight more animated shows.
Hopefully, they will even re-think their idea of live action direct-to-streaming Star Wars original movies.

    Thoughts?

This has actually been signaled for a while now, but yes, it is quite major. As for your specific hopes:
--Hopefully, they will accelerate the production of Kenobi and Andor = Probably not. These are already in pre-production and can't be accelerated that much. We'll get Kenobi in 2022 and Andor in 2023 (IIRC)
--Hopefully, they will greenlight many more live action shows = Seeing as there are supposedly loads of shows already in the works, this is almost a given. In 10 years time there'll probably be loads of SW shows on D+
--Hopefully, they will greenlight more animated shows = Quite likely indeed.
--Hopefully, they will even re-think their idea of live action direct-to-streaming Star Wars original movies = Thus far they've said that movies for theatres will still be made and I rather believe they'll concentrate on shows on TV rather than movies. I mean, if you plan on telling a (random choice-->) Wedge story on D+, why not make it a mini-series at least rather than a single movie? I don't think direct-to-streaming SW movies will be much of a priority, really.

In any case, Disney+ IS Star Wars now, and that's pretty great ;)

I would like a series here, for him. He was vastly unrated as a jedi and had to suffer Ankin's fitful antics.

Ben Kenobi: Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan. Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time. A long time.

I guess the title and time period events are previously well thinked.
Would be cool to see when he decides to not use that name.

I am looking forward to this one, big time. I love the fact Hayden will be in it as well. But I am worried by the comment by Kennedy about a rematch between Vader and Obi-Wan. I really don't like that. I don't mind seeing Hayden in flashbacks. Heck I don't mind seeing Vader doing things concurrently. But there should not be a scene with the two in it and certainly there shouldn't be a rematch. No no no.

Yeah, I’m not terribly thrilled at the idea either. It all depends on the execution of course. In theory at least, I think these two reuniting before their faceoff in ANH really cheapens the weight of that confrontation. I’d like to say ‘cautiously optimistic’, but my arms are pretty well folded at this point.

With Hayden back, do you think this alone is enough to warrant a couple "mask-less" scenes? I mean, I know he gets most of his breathing done by keeping the thing on so its not like he's gonna be taking it off all willy-nilly. Maybe we get a live-action version reminiscent of that Vader-Ahsoka moment?

Well, you don’t bother to bring back an actor with a recognizable face, only to hide it and change his voice. We know Vader didn’t spend all his time with that mask on. And it’s a decent bet, in an Obi-Wan series, we’d get some flashbacks from OB’s perspective. So, I’d expect some Hayden glory shots in there. It would be super weird if we didn’t.

I just hope upon hopes we don’t get an actual in-person scene with these two. I’m REALLY not into that idea.

That makes the most sense. I wonder just how much they will explore the events between Order 66 and Mustafar. RotS made them seem almost back-to-back.... but was there some other time in between there that we don't know about??

I've got some [bad?] news for you...

"Chow said audiences will “definitely see Obi-Wan and Darth Vader get into it again” and the concept art confirmed this as the blue blade of a hooded Obi-Wan clashed with the fiery red blade of Darth Vader.

“Having another swing at each other might be quite satisfying for everybody,” McGregor said. “We hope that you enjoy it as much as we’re going to enjoy making it.”

That's a smart thought too. OR I wonder if they would have Obi-Wan and/or Vader possibly being haunted by future visions of their final dual on the Death Star. Maybe Obi-Wan has seen it happen 100 different ways, heck maybe he even wins some or most of them. But in the end the only way he can see things working for Luke in the long run is to give himself up in that moment.

What I love most about their confrontation in ANH is how much it reinforces their master/pupil relationship. Obi-Wan’s sacrifice isn’t just for Luke’s benefit, but also for Anakin’s. It’s a ‘teachable moment’ between a mentor and his former student.

Vader thinks he’s surpassed his teacher. That ‘power’ is all that matters. Obi-Wan wants him to know there’s so much more to it than his narrow vision can hardly grasp and uses his ‘death’ as a means to deliver one final lesson. If the series could work to support how OB came to that enlightened perspective, I’d be all about it. If it instead works to reinterpret that significance, then I’ll be a bit bummed.

I like the premonition idea a big bunch. “Escape is not his plan.” That OB had a pretty good hunch about how things would play out before he ever got there – and we get to see that. I’d be down.

It's worth remembering that Kenobi killed Maul on Tatooine just two years before A New Hope, so I Don’t think him fighting Vader within the 20 years before that is far-fetched at all.
