What I don't understand is before Rey is captured by Kylo, he probes her mind and extracts information. He then renders her unconscious and takes her to the ice planet for interrogation. If he gets what he needs from the first probe, why interrogate her further?

 

Maybe it's to find Han or Luke's location falsely let her go as bait then capture all of them.

 

If and when it does happen, possibly in VIII or IX, I wonder what Daisy would do if she read the following possible scene description:

"SNOKE raised his hands, pointing them at REY and unleashed his darkest powers at her. She collapses from the onslaught and starts writhing in agony as the lightning surges through her body.

SNOKE: You had the chance to join us, my dear. Now your defiance will be your undoing."

 

Ridley worked with dialect coach Andrew Jack on the RP (Received Pronunciation - British) accent for The Force Awakens.

 

Rey probably would say:

Rey: You failed Supreme Leader,I am a jedi like my mother before me, my will is stronger than your faith in the darkside, I would rather die than do your bidding.

Finn: Not yet, igniting his lightsaber blocking the next strike.

Rey: You came back.

Snoke: Ah you have come to save that which is lost, foolish boy.

Finn: Yes.

 

The accent reinforces the idea that Rey is not from Jakku and she comes from an educated background.

My guess is she was young Padowan at one point and is hiding from the Knights of Ren on Jakku.

 

Accents are a product of your environment.

For example, Alice Eve's character Carol "Wallace" Marcus in Star Trek into Darkness had a different accent than her father, Admiral Marcus (Peter Weller). That was also an example of a character with an obfuscated association.

There was a deleted scene that explained why.

Plus it may have been to throw people off that association.

When someone moves to a country with a different accent they usually speak (eg. Australia to UK) if they stay there long enough their natural accent changes.

 

That's highly dependent upon the person. But, as has been pointed out, where one is raised has an enormous influence, no matter who the parents are.

 

But if Rey has an accent and Kylo has a totally different accent...

 

As long as they are clear I'm not worried.

We won't see any likeness of him.

Your doing the right so far.

 

So I watched ROTJ (for the millionth time) with my 5 year old the other day and it occurred to me that there is no way the sequel trilogy doesn't keep the Skywalker name alive. I don't think JJ would waste Yoda's dying words "The force runs strong in your family, pass on what you have learned". Then when you watch teaser 2, there is Luke talking about the force in his family. The way the dialog was cut to put "you have that power too", it just sounds too much the way a parent would tell their child. While that dialog won't be used in the movie for obvious reasons, I think they are foreshadowing with that choice of dialog.

When I look at this photo, I totally feel the Luke vibe to it. Now there is a lot of evidence pointing to being Han and Leia's child as well. So I understand that. I just don't want to believe Luke is the last Skywalker.

 

I maybe somehow special but I really think that this "You have that power too" was for all of us.

 

A millionth time watching TROTJ impressive, I still think Luke is talking to Rey about her destiny something is unable to after some scene in the movie, I also hope he isn't the Skywalker apart from Leia.
