Yep interesting, the special staff ain't that special. I must have said this twenty times, yet people are oblivious to the fact its missing for half of the film.

 

Oh the staff is indeed special.

In fact I can imagine the staff ultimately becoming a Jedi by the end of the trilogy.

Ha Ha Ha, and people say Rey and Finn are the leads of the trilogy, they're wrong, it's the staff.

 

So the open casting was... a ruse?

No, the open audition was for more characters than just Rey and besides she was not given the part until 4 months after the open casting.

 

You can insinuate the same with Finn with Sabre, just saying.......

 

But if they were casting for a Solo/Skywalker daughter, they must have had a specific look in mind. So the statement that the role of "Rachel" was open for all etnicities, plus J.J saying that they didn`t have a specific skin color in mind when creating Finn and Rey must be lies/smokescreen for the fact that they are looking for a legacy character.

 

That depends. If they were looking for a Solo then they definitely would have had a look they were after. If it was a Skywalker it truly could be open cause they could have Luke's wife of any race.

I'm 100% sure that JJ Abrahms was honest when he said they wrote the Finn character regardless of race, and Boyega won the role because he fit what they wanted for the Character.

As a witty guy he realized in that minute, that not saying the same about Rey would confirm her heritage so he added her to the phrase just out of fear of spoil a big secret right there at Comic Con

 

Well, it seems that Finn has to introduce himself twice in either case (unless he doesn`t introduce himself to Han at all), so that doesn`t tell us much. Besides, they would want to keep the speculation open.

Again, wouldn`t she say the same thing if Rey was Luke`s daughter? To keep the speculation open?

Seriously, I'm fine with Rey Solo in theory but I really really hope we are not getting another Shia Labeouf unknowingly hanging out with dad for most of the movie.

 

I don't get how this tv trailer is implying Rey as a Solo, I really don't. It makes no sense.

 

I agree. As an EU fan, I understand the impulse to jump on any breadcrumb and declare it evidence that Rey is the new Jaina Solo. But, based on what we know, it really doesn't hang together. It would be cool if I'm wrong, but I also don't have anything against a non-Solo/Skywalker heroine.

 

Am not discounting she is legacy there is a chance she is but she is not a Solo. It makes more sense for her to be random but who knows. Am not in charge anything could happen.

 

I right there with you guys in this. I don't see the implication that she is a Solo. I do think it is possible but I don't think it is implied in this spot. I still think there is a chance that she is not a Solo/Skywalker and if she is I would say she is related to Luke.

 

Why the obsession on who she is related to?

So if she just a scavenger will the film be ruined?


What matters most is her performance.

If she is a Skywalker but is a bad actress....will you still be happy, as long as she is a Skywalker?

It is obvious that she is a Skywalker, I can guarantee that.

But that shouldn't be the main concern. What should be is that she is not stiff and ends up being like Hayden Chistensen.

Being a Skywalker does not automatically make her exempt from the most important critique...will she give a good performance.

 

Rey could be a descendant of Palpatine for all I care, just make her awesome!

While it's still possible she is anything but a Solo, I fully expect come Dec. 18 for my entire theatre to shout "I knew it" once they confirm she is Han + Leia's kid.

However, I do think that if they are revealing her parentage in the first movie, that may mean bigger secrets are being held for the later films...

I'm confident that her performance will be good. I will be a little disappointed if it isn't. While there is a high likelihood she is a Skywalker but in my opinion I don't think it is necessarily a given. I won't be bothered one way or another if she is or isn't a Skywalker. I just want to see a good kick ass character.
