That strap looks tricky during combat.
You do some great work KK, but there may be plenty ethically "wrong" with the whole idea of marketing consumer products for profit at the young minds of developing human beings - regardless of gender.

    Just sayin...

Seeing how Spectre totally blew the reveal that wasn't even a reveal, here's a great article about this annoying Hollywood trend, which I hope does not extend to TFA and how they're treating the Rey's secret identity issue: http://blogs.indiewire.com/criticwire/james-bond-blofeld-and-the-end-of-fake-spoilers-20151109

Nonetheless, the identities of both Blofeld and Khan were treated like state secrets in the runup to "SPECTRE" and "STID," with Waltz, Cumberbatch and anyone else involved in the films vigorously denying that their characters were who they were. Journalists fishing for advance tidbits are asking to be lied to: You don't get to ask the showrunners of "Game of Thrones" if Jon Snow is really dead and complain when they decline to reveal their endgame. But when the surprises are so very unsurprising, the game of hide-the-ball becomes a tedious charade. Critics have to dance around the way "SPECTRE" handles a core piece of Bond lore, lest they be accused of revealing a spoiler, while the movie wastes time — a rather enormous amount of time, in fact — building up to a revelation that lands with an enormous wet thud.

    ...

Surprise is an essential element of storytelling: It doesn't kill your enjoyment of "Citizen Kane" to know what "Rosebud" means, but it would nice to watch the movie just once without knowing — especially since it's the rare case of a climactic reveal being virtually impossible to guess and yet entirely logical in retrospect. But it's also become highly overvalued, a way of generating cheap OMGs that reveal nothing so much as the screenwriters' desperation.

This is just great marketing compared to anything regarding Star Wars in recent years.

Anyone else hope Rey's character arc over the trilogy proves to be more of a bittersweet/ tragic one? Call me cold-hearted :D , but I'd love to see her end up alone by the end of it (at least in a physical sense, but she might have her Force ghost companions to guide her - assuming she ends up as the next Jedi!). Sacrificing herself for the 'greater good' - whatever that may be. I'm a big fan of circular narrative, so I would find it somewhat poetic if Rey begins the trilogy on her own, and finishes the trilogy on her own.

But if Rey is not a Solo, why would Han and Leia`s theme play during Rey`s conversation with Han in the trailer? Misdirection?

Abrams claims they didn't have to come up with a backstory to the The Force Awakens because the original trilogy exists.

What some people believe is that there is this whole new complicated backstory generated by the flashbacks.

I find this hard to reconcile.

Well, there will be a flashback but it will be brief, showing the REN and seeing a younger LUKE getting to the Clan to late. I'll assume it will be brief....

there is still and outside chance that REY is a SOLO.( btw!, she still would be in the Skywalker family since Leia is a Skywalker) However, I still think she is a Skywalker and Luke's daughter

Didn't The Washington Post quote or misquote that the movie they showed to Daniel was 4 hours long? This suggests a whole lot of blast and stuff we know from the scene list is gonna get cut for a 2 hour running time.

If they wanted to be that obvious then don't even bother playing up the mystery. It's just going to backfire on them like it did with Kahn and Blofeld. If the answer really is right in front of us, then don't act like it's a big mystery. The only reason to play up a mystery is if the answer is actually something unexpected.

Every time Abrams says "ANH didn't have any twists, was instead full of possibility," I worry that we won't find out about the parentage of Rey and Kylo in this movie. What do you think about these quotes from Abrams, Magnar?

I noticed that he did contrast The Force Awakens with A New Hope in the interview, in that ANH was made in a vacuum and TFA was not.

Abrams is definitely bullshitting half the time. He did say that Rey and Finn were open to any race. He made every actor involved in STID lie for over a year and filmed a fake/altered scene to disguise his idiotic reveal. I would take everything he says with a grain of salt at this point.

Abrams is a master at publicity. His storytelling is incredibly vanilla and basic but somehow he convinces the public that there's some kind of huge mystery behind it.

Highly doubt it. ill venture so far as to say the whole lukes academy raid BS is completely absent from the film.

luke wont have a daughter. he wont have a wife. it goes against his character. if you cant conclude from who she is related by now youre either in denial or just dim.

Man, I just love what J.J. Has done. And Lucas will always be the greatest to me, he brought my favorite SciFi saga back with the prequels. Lucas never had to do the PT. I will always be grateful for him putting his vision to the big screen regardless of whether some things work on screen. George brought us one of the most Iconic characters of all time in Vader.......

I'm going to speculate that maybe Rey's English accent is a cover.
