If we assume that Rey is not a Mary Sue, and has been trained as a Jedi before being left on Jakku, she should at least have met the guy who trained her, and that could only be Luke. But she doesn't remember that training either. So I suppose the identity of Luke Skywalker as her father and teacher was completely wiped from her mind before she was dumped on Jakku.

Some of Rey's idiosyncrasies on Jakku could be attributed to her reconstructing the home she's left. Like her living in the belly of an AT-AT (probably resembling a cave on Luke's island), or being drawn to that pilot's helmet (if Luke had one like that on his shelf at home).

Maybe she has selective memory due to trauma as a toddler so she remembers but...doesn't and her doing what she does is her subconscious trying to get her to remember and it suddenly hits her all at once upon being face to face with Luke Skywalker ...

On the very last page (inside cover right side) at the bottom of Rey's Survival Guide there is lone Aurebesh that translates to "POSTCARD" on it. It's a pretty empty inside cover page with nothing else on it except some art of BB-8 and a Teedo leading a Luggabeast. On the left soft side page is art of Rey standing by the AT-AT leg and her speeder in the background.

There's a postcard in the book (in the Niima Outpost section near the end but before the Addendum which is early The Force Awakens story) depicting Cloud City (see the image below) with Aurebesh on the postcard that translates to "WISH YOU WERE HERE". That text of that page itself is just Rey going on about Unkar Plutt controlling the food supply. Rey says on the bottom of the page, "It's a bad situation, but I remember that my being here is a mistake. And when that mistake gets fixed, I'll wave good-bye to Unkar, Niima Outpost, and Jakku."

Rey's folks went there. Found the saber? But if this is in anyway truthful, Rey's parents are dicks!

    Cloud City, eh?

The possible links between Jakku and Lando Calrissian keep piling up. The only formal economic activity is mining, now there's apparently a postcard of Cloud City and the concept art of the ship that left Rey on Jakku looks like a Mellcrawler II

It's not explained why there is a postcard of Cloud City in the book that says "WISH YOU WERE HERE" or where/who it may have come from.

But it's the final word in the book...in Aurebesh...and it is "postcard". It's like a non sequitur or an easter egg. Maybe it'll make sense in a future story. Maybe it'll make sense years from now. Maybe it's a meta reference to the force vision and/or scenes that were cut or something else entirely like Leia confessing her love of Han Solo or the "I am your father" "NOOOOOO!" Or it's just some random thing thrown into the book for no reason. See I have the book and have read it and don't understand it. Could be some stupid irrelevant thing. Who knows.

Interesting new piece of information from Rey's Story.

We've speculated a lot about the man pierced by the red lightsaber in Rey's forceback vision. The consensus seems to be that man (clan leader) is killed in a separate event than the fall of Luke's new Jedi class.

Here's the description from the book:

So this would seem to indicate that the red lightsaber isn't saving Rey. This hero isn't a member of the Knight of Ren. If this a separate event it could be something that led to the disappearance of Rey, separating from her parents/family/etc.

Apparently, Rey also calls someone a "laser brain" in her survival guide...

    --- Double Post Merged, Feb 17, 2016 ---
Well, then I guess it's safe to say the person who gets stabbed wasn't trying to kill Rey like the vision seems to imply

That would be really odd considering the official credits call him a Knight of Ren :/. This might be a case where the movie needs to be trusted over a children's book. It's also possible Rey is just mistaken over what she thinks she saw there.

Are you sure about this? Pablo Hidalgo said he was a member of some other group. The production name was "clan leader."

I saw pictures of the actual pages of the book and it got me wondering... may I ask how you know what it says on the the postcard? How did you translate the alien language?

He said production called him that which means it's a production code name, just like how Rey was "Kira" for production. That character was played by Mark Stanley (confirmed on his twitter) and in the official credits it says he's a Knight of Ren. (Mark Stanley was "clan leader" on imdb for several months before that got officially updated to "Knight of Ren" after the film premiered and imdb received the official credits from Disney)

Isn't it conceivable he played on of the seven Knights in the forceback scene and the clan leader as well? Production name aside, Pablo Hidalgo says that the person on film isn't a member of the Knights of Ren and that's backed up by Rey's Story.

Did Pablo actually say that he's not a KoR tho? I just remember him saying he wasn't a Jedi student of Luke's who got killed... He said he was from "some other group" and "production called him clan leader" or something similar.

But I agree there could be some link between the clan and this character as a KoR, like perhaps "clan leader" is code for former leader of the Knights.

Clan leader could be a member of the Knight of Ren I guess...
