    I think she knows Luke too. But keep in mind both the "flashback" and the "academy" are speculations based on MSW interpretations of their shot list. There is no confirmation either exist. They are examples of speculation that turned into widely accepted spoilers.

    It makes SOME sense. It ties in with the old EU and fans love the idea of a jedi academy. That's why it's gotten so much traction.

    I just think there is a lot more to the story of Rey being on Jakku than we know about. We're speculating with important details still missing.

    I agree completely .... its just common sense IMO..... just like that staff is "just a basic pike staff" but it just happens to look like a saber screwed onto the end.... J J is laughing at us lol (emperor)

    A lot of wrappings on the one end. Which seems to me that its to cool her hands for, but also that end for a blaster. But who knows..

    In a Galaxy full of lightsabers and blasters... the weapon you really want is just a big metal staff to hit people with... makes total sense.

    It's certainly not a weird idea.
    And I suspect that is one of several functions of this weapon.
    But if that happens to be the only function of the weapon, well.. It's going to be the butt end of a lot of jokes and lampoons regarding this film.
    Just picture this: Rey is running for her life. Out of all the items she could grab at a moments notice and run with after she sees the TIEs incomming..

    This has the potential of going down as a 'Nuke the Fridge' moment.:confused:
    Now, I'm under no illusions; most people are going to be too busying staining their pants at the ship they're running to board to notice this in the first run. Give it few weeks. Once the 'afterglow' is over.. Once SNL comes back from holiday break.. Once NOW jumps on this the way the race-baiters did with Episode I..

    Of course, that's only if pig poking is the sole function of this weapon. (Btw flailing it as a mundane staff weapon like the weequay did in RotJ does not count as a function)
    Fortunately, it won't be. They kept the PT and TCW for a reason. And it was't because of the storytelling and acting. It was the stuff.
