Isn't it a bit odd that Rey just happens to find the Falcon and happens to be great at flying it right from the start of the movie if she has been on Jakku most of her life? JJ confirmed she flies it in the sun during an interview and they did the practical effect for the sunlight. I suppose he could be referring to some time later in the movie but I find that hard to believe as we have seen her run onto the Falcon and then it be shot at and fly into a Super Star Destroyer on Jakku.

For a girl that is suppose to be in awe of a forests planet and grew up on Jakku she seems to be pretty worldly. I have a very hard time believing she doesn't have a much different past then we are being led to believe. If she doesn't then it will be hard to believe she can outfly trained New Order pilots. It would be like asking a 19 year old with his pilots licensing to fly a combat mission against an Air Force fighter pilot. The 19 year old would die very fast. It will be even harder to believe if Finn is shot down moments before(screen time wise) but she is able to out fly trained pilots without any training in a ship that is a cargo ship. I know it has been modified but it was a cargo ship. How would she know it was modified? To her it would not be the Falcon it would be a cargo ship. So you run into a cargo ship and out fly fighter craft? and you have lived on Jakku most of your life? That's a lot for anyone watching to swallow.

I thought one of the worst parts of TPM was 9 year old Annie flying in the finale battle and blowing the bad guy ship up. It was a bridge to far for me. Please tell me I want have to swallow that again.

 

That's a lazy way to explain everything in the SW universe. Come on the force is not all powerful. It has limits. Just ask all of the jedi that died during order 66. How many lived?

 

Luke did not have a whole lot of training and he jumps right in an x-wing and destroys the Death Star. There is a verbal reference that he has flown something in the past but it is also clear he never left Tatooine so I would say his training to be a star fighter pilot is next to none. He had some natural ability augmented by the Force. Rey could be the same way. She may have some limited experience flying but not formal training and it would not be any different than Luke's situation.

I hope so, Rey looks like a character ready to be pushed to the limit when the pressure is on.

 

JediMD you make a good point but it was stated that Luke knew how to fly and was good at it. It is stated in ANH Luke was the best bush pilot in the outer rim. It is also stated the x-wing is not much different than the skyhoppers he flew. Luke also says he shot whomp rats in the skyhopper that were not much bigger than the exhaust port. He also said it just like beggers cannon back home. It is very clear that Luke flew a lot and was very good at it. There was concerns mentioned by Red Leader about him flying. Yes it was glossed over but there was an explanation for it.

Its not the same as a 9 year old flying in combat and its not the same as Rey finding the Falcon, a cargo ship, and out flying Tie Fighters. Maybe they will do what they did with Luke and give her dialogue that explains it.

All it would take is just one line of dialogue to explain. Finn- Are you sure you can fly this thing? Rey- I've flown some (insert craft name) here on Jakku before. It can't be much different.

Then add her latent force abilities and natural talent and it is realistic

 

Rey and Poe need to argue over who the best pilot in the galaxy is.

 

I agree but it's still a big pill to swallow after Annie in TPM.

 

Am not going to link this but there is some nasty bull out on twitter at the moment. Some people are complaining that Daisy's voice has dropped suggesting steroid use and making insinuations about her sexuality. What a set of horrid of Vhlor, I mean look at her, she looks nothing like a man. Besides its non of our business who Daisy sleeps with. That stuff is below the belt and crude. Sighs -feeling angry

 

It's a shame but there are always going to be haters
