***REBELS SEASON 4 AND TLJ SPOILERS AHEAD***

It's just what you all wanted. Another Snoke theory.

But here's the deal: instead of just assuming we learned nothing about him from TLJ, let's use what TLJ taught us to form our new theory. In TLJ, we learned:

    1) Snoke isn't ultimately THAT powerful, except for his force abilities
    2) Snoke isn't actually that important
    3) Snoke has a taste for opulence

With that in mind, let me turn your attention to a new character from Rebels Season 4: Veris Hydan.

When we meet him in Rebels, the Ezra and crew question his identity, but we never get a straight answer.

So, this character. He is a scholar of Force lore. The Databank says he is not Force sensitive, but bear with me. He is an adviser to the Emperor as well, with a taste for finery, much like Snoke. And, obviously, the facial similarities: long gaunt face, bushy grey eyebrows, blue eyes.

We last see Hydan disappear in a flash of light as the temple collapses. This collapse could explain Snoke's deformation. We also know that the temple is very strong with the force, and that an opening between worlds can be found there. Perhaps, in this moment, Hydan finally finds the secrets he sought. Perhaps he could have viewed the events of Return of the Jedi from this space between worlds, thus explaining how Snoke knows about Vader's betrayal in canon.

But, you say, how could Snoke just be this minor character from Rebels? Just a minister to the Emperor?

Because, as we learned in TLJ, he's not actually that strong. He's not actually that important. This is just the sort of explanation that would fit, given that the films no longer seem interested in explaining Snoke.

And why would this new character appear for two Rebels episodes, with the question of his identity explicitly raised, yet seemingly to no purpose? As we know, Filoni often puts little things in his episodes that only payoff years later?

Snoke is apparently around 7 feet tall as well.

He may not be very important for the overall story of the ST, but his force abilities are actually quite impressive: He's a master a telepathy (he bridged two people's minds across half a galaxy) and telekinesis (barely using his hands and moving people and objects with his mind - again, across vast distances).
And (as already stated): He's a 7 ft alien.
