It's curious that the speeder appears to be cut cleanly in half. That's not the type of damage that a crash or a bomb or a blaster would do. It would suggest that a melee weapon, or some other kind of weapon, destroyed the speeder, perhaps a lightsaber or a big sword? So like you say maybe one of the KoR was part of this attack.

Or the speeder's structure means it splits down the middle in the event of impact.

 

What if the people getting into the speeders are FO officers in disguise and they're running away from something but they lose control and Luk/Rey/Finn/Kylo cuts the speeder in half to stop them from getting away (?) .

 

True, True. I'm working under the assumption that these are Republic/Non-FO guys but you're quite right that it could be Luke or Rey cutting the Speeder in half if we assume that these people are bad guys.

Finn and whoever is with him on space horse could be chasing the speeder which turns the corner to find itself heading towards a cloaked figure who suddenly cuts it in half thus ending the chase.

Is it confirmed that Asian actress is on space horse? I assumed that was some vague rumour latched onto by shippers. Anyway I more imagined Luke cutting down the speeder, if it is the FO in these speeders. I'm still assuming these are high ranking Republicans and this may be a KoR assassination attempt.

Tran is actually the only very reasonable suggestion for one of the actors being sighted (apart from two which are not even hiding to be there) on the base of the below photo. It is either her or her double.
The ponytail of the woman sitting on the "space horse" is the same.

And come on, nobody is cutting the speeder in two with a lightsaber - it explodes.

I agree with you 100% but remember we are Star Wars fans and are a passionate bunch who are not immune to having bouts of whining, bitching, and jumping to conclusions

 

Difficult to say at this point what is going on, but I think it looks pretty certain that Tran or her double (although frankly the girl leaning on the rail looks stunningly like the actual actress) is definitely the one sitting on the space horse. And that this is Finn (the character) is also very clear.
They can easily film the close up moments of that scene with the real actors in studio with part of the set reconstructed. It shouldn't be a problem (especially since the shoot is at night and they don't have to match a much more difficult natural day light if the shoot was during the day) and then edit in and add the shots with the doubles when their faces are not clear (from the back, or when they are in motion). This is a standard way to do things I think.

i still think that guy jumping out of the speeder is oscar isaac's stunt double. he is there on a mission with finn as his back up, then all hell breaks loose.

I like this line of thought. Maybe Poe was on an undercover mission and he gets in some trouble. Finn and KMT's character come swooping in to save him. I can just see Poe saying "Now I owe you two."

That's a really straight, clean cut for an explosion. I have to go with the lightsaber theorists on this one. Either Kylo or Luke will slice it up, I'm guessing.
