I ordered the LEGO First Order Transporter set, and it finally arrived. I finished putting it together today.

The set has a parts count of just under 800, and it comes with a total of 7 minifigs. You get Captain Phasma, 2 Stormtroopers, 2 Flametroopers, and 2 Resistance troopers. Also included are a bunch of blasters, flamethrower units, and spare ammo for the ship's 4 main weapons.

There are a variety of working features. The front ramp opens and closes by pushing a knob on the back of the ship. Turning another knob causes a top hatch to open and a stormtrooper to pop up so he/she can fire the small twin barrel blaster cannon on the top deck. That gun fires transparent small green projectiles, and there are two spring loaded larger guns which fire green laser bolts.

The rear hatch to the driver/pilot's compartment opens and a Stormtrooper figure slides out on a platform complete with a tiny decal instrument panel. There are numerous blasters and a couple of flame units, and there are internal racks to hold the weapons and spare ammo. The roof lifts off to show off the interior, and the vehicle has clear roller wheels on the underside to give the illusion that it's hovering just above the ground much like Luke's landspeeder did.

Building at a leisurely pace, assembly took around 4 hours. As always, LEGO quality is top notch, and this is a great set with numerous accessories, working features, and some great minifigs. Highly recommended!

Got it from Toys R Us here in Australia. I had one on preorder since September from Forbidden Planet but they kept putting the expected ship date back. Last I checked it was due end of November.

Imagine my utter joy when I randomly walk through TRU on my lunch break and see this on shelf!!!
Was only 3 there and I bought 2 of them, one for play and one for display :)

Scale and detail is good straight out of box but i can see people using it as a good base to repaint and weather etc to get it get it really accurate. It got a really nice matt texture to it like a sculpture, not smooth plastic like Target one. Comparison below with Target Rubies helmet which I got from the States:

    image.jpg

Overall as a massive Kylo fan already I'm a super super happy with it and really reasonable for AU$129.

Does it fit well? I'm going to get this for SW:Celebration next year & I've seen people grumble about the Voice changer (easy fix) but nothing on the size? whats your thoughts?

Yep fits good, has an adjustable strap system inside like you would find in a hard hat work helmet so is nice and snug. No bobble head at all like the Target one which is definitely oversized,
I've also got a early helmet from xcoser which is undersized. Black series sits right in middle and I think is spot on.
One of mine is going to be used for my now 90% complete Kylo costume. This is the best helmet I've seen so far and with a little modification it can easily get to the standard of the upcoming Anovos ones without the ridiculous price tag.

    Highly recommend.

Although I have a few 1/1 scale blaster props, I've never considered adding any other full-size props or masks to my SW collection. However, after seeing your pics and reading your comments, I think I'm going to take the plunge and buy one of these.
    --- Double Post Merged, Nov 15, 2015, Original Post Date: Nov 15, 2015 ---
If you pick one up, you will not be disappointed.

I had seen the Transport advertised at the price of $89.95, but when I bought mine at Walmart, it was $79.95. I also had a $10 off coupon, which I used. It's not a terribly large vehicle, but it has a ton of amazing detail and is quite heavy for it's size. The fact that it comes with a total of 7 minifigs is a definite plus. Using some parts from one of my Technic sets, I'm going to add interior lighting, and motorize the ramp. I'll post pics when it's done.

What do you think of the Command Shuttle set? Have you thought about making modifications so the wings can fold?

I love the shuttle, Its big, its heavy and just a good build. I have seen people with modification to the wings but it doesnt bother me with how it is. I always have the wings all the way extended. How about you?

I don't have the Command Shuttle yet, but it's next on my buy list. My build style is to build the model as it comes in the box, then go back and make any improvements I think are needed. Sometimes I make simple cosmetic changes, and sometimes I'll make minor to major mechanical mods as well.

I ended up doing major cosmetic and mechanical mods to my last 2 big LEGO projects, the Mercedes Unimog and the R/C Volvo 350. I ended up adding almost 500 additional parts to two sets that already have an insane parts count. I was seeing LEGO parts in my sleep after these-

    1-technic-1.jpg

Don't know if I'll hinge the shuttle wings or not. Like you, I think it looks good with the wings straight up. I'll probably do a lighting package. The Power Functions accessory kit comes with LED lights, and I'm thinking cockpit and engine lights would be cool.

My current project is a pair of minifig scale souped-up and modified T-65 X-Wings. Here's one of them-

I've added a few new figures to my collection.

    12" Hasbro Flametrooper-

    12" Hasbro Darth Vader-

    new-figs-3 (10).JPG new-figs-3 (12).JPG new-figs-3 (14).JPG new-figs-3 (13).JPG

    12" bad guys-

    new-figs-3 (15).JPG

    3.75" Captain Phasma-

    new-figs-3 (17).JPG new-figs-3 (18).JPG

    3.75" Rey-

    new-figs-3 (16).JPG rey-2.JPG rey-3.JPG

I'm impressed with the new 12" Hasbro figures. Granted, they only have 5 points of articulation, and they are nowhere near the level of premium 12" figures like Hot Toys/Sideshow produces, but for a mere $10 apiece ($15 for the Flametrooper), they are a bargain. The sculpts are quite nice, and the paint apps are exceptionally clean for a low-cost 1/6 scale figure. Above all, they just look cool on the shelf!

Here's another hypothetical TFA ship built with LEGO.

I've been kicking the idea of a Resistance Interceptor around for a while now. Using the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter and the German WWII rocket powered Me-163 Komet as a conceptual starting point, I came up with a small, simple, stripped down single seat ship that is all engines and guns. Like the weight saving drop-away landing gear dolly of the Me-163, my ship also has a dolly type landing gear that stays on the ground and is not a part of the ship.

It has the typical astromech socket behind the cockpit, and I envision it taking off vertically on repulsorlifts like the X-Wing and other SW ships do. It's short range, but very fast. There are four main engines, two inboard blaster cannons, and two outboard heavy cannons that can be swapped out for ship to ship missiles. It contains just over 400 parts, and is minifig scale-
