SPECULATION Poe Dameron's Role (Oscar Isaac)

Names are pretty worthless with "hidden children" and all that. We all know royalty around the world have various hidden children with different names, not to mention illegitimate children.

There is also the rumor that Han and Leia are on bad terms in TFA. If so, there has to be a reason, and one of them might be Han's continuing scoundreltastic activities.

 

I think he is a scoundrel in a pilot like role in the Rebel Alliance. I think Han is on good terms with him and he becomes a love interest of Daisy Ridley's character. I never heard of the possibility of Domhnall Gleeson being Han and Leia's son. I don't think he is personally.

 

So I think I broke my first story, and found the first Easter Egg from TFA... everyone speculating about the name Poe Dameron, and what it might mean for the character, can finally rest... it means JJ has a wicked sense of humor

Due to the absence of Poe in MSW confirmed version of TFA, do we know where he is or what he's doing?? Or is he "being saved for Episode 8" like Serkis, Hamill, and Gleeson? Discuss.

 

I am trying to solve the Poe mystery in my own speculative plot summary I've been working on. I think he is central in the first act, gone from the second, and returns in the third

 

Yep Poe is an enigma. I wonder what he is doing in this film apart from probably eying up Rey

 

Maybe he makes a pass at Rey, and she just leaves him lying in the desert....and in the third act, he leads an attach against Rey and Finn to get his droid back. Revenge.

 

Anyone heard ANYTHING about Poe? I'm getting afraid that the lack of rumors means he's going to end up cut from the film like Luke. There's gotta be SOMETHING out there about him....

 

I doubt Poe is cut from the film. He supposedly owns BB-8 and ends up together with Finn in the brig.

I will agree with somone who says he becomes missing from the 2nd act possibly.

Escapes with Finn with the help of Rey tgen probably joins back up with the alliance or whatever.

But I wonder in the teaser trailer if he is one of the one's flyibg across the lake. Maybe leading an attack on Luke?

We've found out that the scene of Poe and the scene of the X-Wings is a misdirection, Poe flies the black X-Wing and you can partially see that during the teaser.

No way he gets cut from the film or given a bit part, I'd put 100 credits on it in the cantina if I'd find anyone who says he will

 

I think Poe will play a large role in TFA, because he's most likely part of the new main trio. Also, the "MSW confirmed version of TFA"? No offense, but this is the same site that claims that Luke is only in one scene. If Jason's going that far than I doubt he's come up with a "confirmed" version of the storyline; there's obviously more to this that none of us, Jason included, do not know. We can guess at the details of the first act, but we have no idea what happens in the second or even the third, and even if we did, there would be no way to tie them together. So Poe Dameron will have a large role in this movie but we can only guess at it, along with the other stuff that's swirling around.

 

I reckon the info we are missing from the first act is there there is a battle above the desert planet before anything happens on the surface.
My guess is that the backdrop to all this is decades of fruitless peace negotiations between the Rebellion and the Empire... then this guy Kylo Ren surfaces leading the Empire's forces in these random attacks on innocent targets, breaking ceasefire agreements etc... and we join the film (ignoring the farmer-finds-a-lightsaber thing) as the Rebels bid to intercept and prevent Ren's latest attack. Poe is involved in this mission. And it fails.
This is where options open up - as far as I am concerned. The idea of characters going down to the surface of the planet, only to return to a Star Destroyer prison cell, before escaping and crashing on the planet again seems way too convoluted to me.
I think all of the crashed TIE/salvaged X-Wing concept art is (unintentionally) misleading. It is either one or the other. Not both. I think they just explored both.
Some seem to suggest Poe is shot down, crashes his X-Wing on the planet, is captured, sent back to the Star Destroyer brig... while Finn is involved in the attack, sees the Empire for what it really is, rebels against Ren and also gets taken to the same brig... before he and Dameron escape and crash land back on the planet.
Makes more sense to me that they are both just held on the planet somewhere after Kylo Ren's attack on the village and team up to escape, without all the need for returning to orbit, stealing a TIE and crash landing on the desert world a second time.
Poe sends BB-8 off to find help when he realises he is going to be captured. That help is Rey.
They salvage Poe's X-Wing, he leaves, then Rey and Finn find their own way off world...

Unless of course the whole "down to the planet, captured, taken to Star Destroyer, escape, back to planet" thing is executed with some kind of irony or punchline perhaps... it just seems a bit messy to me.
