    Alright, I'll start:

    Finn is not unappreciated or underutilized. None of the characters are. Each of them plays a specific role in the story, and their popularity is a reflection of the work put into developing them. Is there any reason why Lucasfilm should have put more work into Finn? A reason why he should have played a more important role in TFA? Is there a popularity/appreciation quota that must be fulfilled for this character? Not unless we give up the idea that cinematography is an art and each movie is an expression of its creators, and replace it with the idea that art must enforce specific political ideals. None of the characters are "problematic", not if we understand what a movie is and apply logic and common sense when analyzing them.

    Rey is not a Mary-Sue. She is force-sensitive. I blame Jar Jar Abrams for Finn's goofiness. JJ wanted Boyega to play a comedic Finn rather then a serious one. I look forward to TLJ most of all to see how Finn has evolved. I don't think he is force-sensitive and if he is down the line I hope it is done well.
