This was one of the best episodes yet.
It was also apparent to me, especially during the fight sequences, that the animation has improved a lot since this show started. The characters' movement is a lot more fluid and natural and the environments seem more interactive, as opposed to the flat plate feel of early episodes.

I like where this is headed.

And my 4-year old still loves it, which is the most important thing. She now wants a Hera doll to play with her Disney princesses.

I really like the Hera is a strong independent twi'lek and not just a sex slave. The old EU would see things like "oola is a twi'lek female sex slave, therefore all twi'leks must be just like that".

I like the show overall and liked this episode. Unfortunately Rebels at the moment IMO lacks the variety, depth and technical level of TCW. It is obvious that the show was set-up fast and with not so much budget but Filoni and crew are telling a good story with convincing characters with a limited amount of resources. The absence of other planets and more variety fits perfectly the story. This little group of people knows nothing from the greater political plot; they are confused and struggle against the Empire trying to stay alive, make connections and discover their abilities as a "family" and Ezra, our main character, is a building hero. The monotony of the setting (always the same planet, the same color palette) reflects his small and conflicting inner world.
I'm sure we will see the world expand with Ezra's capabilities in season 2 and it will be an even greater pay-off for the character growth and the story arc, so I'm willing to wait... but this expansion HAS to take place, in terms of story and overall quality, otherwise I would be highly disappointed.

I get the feeling that as the Rebellion grows, we'll see this small band reaching out into the wider galaxy. I really think what we're seeing as an environmental limitation, being stranded on Lothal, is really integral to their development as characters. I'm trying to think of another show where things started out small and tightly focused, but expands to new environments and introduces loads of new characters as the story moves forward. I think Joss Whedon's shows are maybe the best example I can think of. Start at a high school, end with an apocalypse (at a high school).

Crazy how this episode shows that they are basically the only capable rebels. I always felt they were part of a larger group, but I guess not.
Pretty crazy then that these guys lead to all those red shirts in the OT.

I wonder if anyone looked into Gal Tryvis after the trap at the Spire. They said they were going to get the word out. At this point I can''t believe Fulcrum isn't very interested in the Ghost crew. They uncovered the plot to kill the few remaining Jedi and have Intel on the Inquisitor, I can't imagine many Rebels come across him and can report back and they discovered the Empires mole.

I will have to agree. A big part of what I love about the Star Wars universe is the diverse landscapes and all these different planets and systems. There's none to speak of in this show. There was in Clone Wars which is why I still have hope for this show. I enjoy it but I am with some of the rest of you. I still don't know where we're going. Where's the climax of the show? Is there one?

Link to watch all of SW Rebels
It's a great website. No ads, and no pop ups. The episodes also come out a few days before they air on tv.

I liked VISION OF HOPE. But I think that the next episode, CALL TO ACTION, is the best REBELS episode to date. I look forward to its review thread.

    GO TO HELL, EMPIRE!!!

This episode was about bringing together several episodes’ worth of info from all of the characters, and combining it into a larger picture of what has been going on all season. I really liked that aspect of the episode, and the season as a whole. Yes, it’s a slow burn, and yes they COULD have visited 30 different planets by now, but I don’t think they SHOULD have. It is a small group of insurgents, largely isolated from any sort of larger group, because there is yet to be a rebel "alliance".

While this is in contrast to the different world-changing events each week in Clone Wars, I love the fact we are finally looking at Star Wars from the inside-out again (OT view - a small group affecting change in a larger circumstance) instead of from the outside-in (PT view - an entire galaxy affecting change on itself all at once from every possible viewpoint).

The one fear I had of setting this show between Episode 3 & 4 is that it would make the Empire look weaker than it did in A New Hope. I'm relieved that as the show goes on that is proving not to be the case. The Empire is shown to be a bit lacking at the lower levels (storm troopers, local authorities, etc) but at higher levels are shown to be quite capable of effective long term traps and Intel gathering. This is in keeping with how an Empire of that scale would likely function. Early successes by the Rebels are really only allowing the Empire to slowly learn more about them and slowly tighten their grip on the situation. Several attempts at a larger success by the group has led to failure and barely escaping, because those attempts were in reality traps set by the Empire.

I like how those points are starting to come together, in the way a season long plot should. Again it's subtle but it's there. I’d wondered when we were going to see Agent Kallus again, and how he and The Inquisitor were going to be weaved into the story as dual antagonists. In this episode it revealed that not only have they shared information (which often doesn’t occur on TV shows), but that they have their own ways of dealing with the situation. Kallus’ comments to Minister Tua were spot on.

When Kallas confronts the Rebels, he and Minister Tuah reveal to the audience and the Rebels just how much they do know of them. In one episode the inquisitor alludes to knowing who Kannan really is as a Jedi, after learning he is going by the name of Kannan now. This info is apparently shared to Kallus since he calls Kannan by name. There is also a nice callback to the beginning of the season when he mockingly refers to Ezra as "Jabba" since that is all he knows about him prior to this episode. However, after the standoff with Trayvis, the Empire now knows who Ezra really is, and his ties to the Bridger transmissions - expect that to be used against Ezra on a subsequent trap set by the empire.

Hera and Ezra are too eager to find other Rebels - they overlooked warning signs about the Imperial trap because they wanted it too badly. Hera even acknowledges this on the ramp of the Ghost at the end of the episode. The rest of the Rebels were concerned about the warning signs, but deferred to their leader (Hera) and to Ezra's visions, which does make sense. Note, though that Kannan’s questions at the beginning of the episode were actually spot on - and he even wonders if “the Empire is more clever than we think,” which turns out to be the case.

I liked how they used Ezra’s connection to Zare Leonis, by having Zare be the one to meet Ezra, instead of Ezra somehow getting back into an Imperial complex. It also shows that Zare is willing to stick his neck out. Zare is being transferred to Arcannus - they wouldn’t bring it up unless it was either: a reason for the character to not appear again, or to set up for the Rebels to have an insider once they get to Arcannus. I think the latter will prove true.

I enjoyed the force usage by Kannan to stop the fan, and that Ezra did a decent job at blocking blaster fire, but still wasn’t really capable of purposeful redirection.
