    So after seeing the movie did anyone catch where/why they needed to use the Rey model head?
    I don't remember anywhere specially obvious...

    Considering the use of practical effects, my guess is they used it on a 'stunt dummy' that was hurled into the trees (when Kylo Ren confronts Finn and Rey in the forest and Force pushes Rey into the air).

    Yes, it does seem the most likely explanation. It's either that or she's going to be decapitated by Kylo or Snoke in VIII. :D
