Ok I like the idea of Ahsoka walking away from Sabine because she sensed too much anger, hatred, blah blah blah... But that's as far as I can go here. Sabine has had mucho chances to take the Bad Guy path.

Creativity points for the whole Wren/Ren>Knights of Ren thing, and Tristan Wren is one of those characters I really want to see has survived and appears in live-action, but Ryan's theory here is a little bit too much tin foil hat for me.

I'm not at all opposed to a good guy dipping into a little Dark Side IF it is done right. It's worked for Ezra and Cal Kestis.

 

So, regarding the question about Sabine "having" the Force.

Since we've established that Sabine "has" the Force, but is very poor at it, does that mean her midi-chlorian count is very low? Or is it more a matter of her lack of discipline and training? Hm... I wonder how all this actually works

 

I interpet it simply as they put it, everyone is force sensitive or rather vessel of the force as it is in everyone and everything, but some have higher midichlorian count/talent
But I am all for Sabine utilizing the force in some minimal way, unless the new galaxy completely rewrites the rules of force wielding.

But combining Mandalorian skills with Jedi fighting skills makes Sabine in theory the ultimate warrior – if she can also fight back the force powers in a way, as I believe that Mandalorians' strength was in their overwhelming numbers, while one on one, Jedi have the upper hand mostly.

 

I guess my speculation here is whether Qui-Gon Jinn's "medi-chlorian count" explanation equals Ahsoka's "Talent is a factor" explanation? I mean, linguistically, talent & magic blood-cell count are not the same, but perhaps, with Star Wars logic and a certain point of view, it is meant to be?

Or, could Sabine have a super-high medi-cholrian count but not talent, while as Ahsoka has a low count but a whole lot of talent? ( <-- theoretic example given to illustrate a point, not to indicate actual in-story reality)

(Obviously, these are not questions we can hope to explain ourselves, but it's fun to think about it)

 

I guess that it's hard in general to impose real world views on fantasy realms where we rely heavily on in-universe explanation,
but my talents for art/drawing and music were clearly inherited from my parents and not in a way that they trained me.
My sister can draw and is a comic strip artist, my younger brother is 3D modeler and I am a graphic designer... while our middle brother has no talents.
Question is, if he would find it easy to start drawing for example, as it is clearly embedded in some way in our DNA.
My uncle was a music composer, my father is multiinstrumentalist, I always hated to learn on instruments, as I don't have the patience and as I've discovered means to produce music electronically, I have learned to compose as well, on my own, going by ear while getting some know how through practice etc.
And some people I know, don't have a knack for some of these things or musical ear even if they tried hard.
But everyone has the potential to do so, but all the craftsmen in various departments will simply reply the same thing... you have to practice and practice makes perfect, but some people just have a bigger talent. And talent plays a big factor, because with that it's easier for you to learn and quickly step out of the box.
This all is my opinion, but as talent in real life is nothing abstract and has some roots in our core DNA programming and you can inherit talent as well, I think that midichlorians equals talent or aptitude for the force as very likely.

 

Maybe Sabine felt the force telling her she needed to go to the other galaxy, even if it meant going with the enemy. That Ezra can be found and the enemy exiled there forever. She and Ahsoka agreed that if they couldn't get the map back and find Ezra, then they must prevent the enemy from doing it. But by being their captive Sabine IS going to find Ezra. So the conditions needed for Sabine to be compelled to destroy any chance of Ezra and Thrawn being found hadn't been met yet. Technically.

I'm not convinced she's bound to turn. And I'm not one of these fans that is continually trying to anticipate main characters consciously turning to the dark side or using it. As if it was the peak of Star Wars drama/writing.

Choosing a chance, both for yourself and for your lost friend, to live even though it gives the enemy a greater chance at victory, when the option is sacrificing yourself to foil their plans right there and then, is NOT turning to the dark side, in my book. Is it so different from Indy surrendering and allowing the Nazi's to open the Ark, rather than blowing it up?

If anything, it was Ahsoka that perhaps fell a little to the dark side when she retaliated for, she thought, Sabine's death. Maybe that's how she ended up in the WBW in the presence of Anakin/Vader.

Does it not get tiresome screaming "Fall to the Dark Side" or "Redemption to the Light"? Sometimes someone just makes a decision based on the situation at hand. Also, did nobody else notice the huge binders Sabine had on her wrists boarding Elsbeth's ship? Also, if Sabine doesn't "use the Force" how can she "Fall to the Dark side"? Baylan clearly is not a Darksider, at least not as we know. He acknowledged her objective and clearly stated there was a way to achieve it without violence. That's the same point he wanted to make to Ahsoka, but SHE was the aggressor. Not him.

I believe that Sabine is every bit as ready to kill Baylan, Shin, Morgan, Thrawn... anyone else who gets in her way, just as much as she was before episode 4. That hasn't changed. She hasn't changed. Only the situation she finds herself in has changed, but anyone who knows Sabine knows that this is not anything she can't handle, and those who don't know that are probably gonna find out in the next couple of weeks.

That's why all this talk about Sabine falling to the Dark is so crazy to me. If anything, she is very likely even more determined to fight and exact her revenge on The Baddies because she watched one of them defeat Ahsoka and Shin tried to kill her three times now. And before anyone tries to "set me straight" and state that anger and revenge are the Path to the Darkside, blah, blah, blah... That is a super-sweet ideal that the Jedi taught. Where are they? Sabine is not trying to be a Jedi, and it has been clearly stated that she does not have Jedi-level Force Aptitude. The whole "anger and frustration are quick to give power, but they also unbalance you" is a great lesson for Ahsoka to use in training Sabine, but it has a completely different meaning than it would with someone with a powerful control of and ability to wield the Force.
