to put it simply...yes, they should. Even though he wasn't created in TPM it would've been nice for him to have a cameo during the cremation of Qui-Gon at the end of the movie.

Why? Having Dooku in all three films seem unnecessary to the story. What Lucas should have done is allow Dooku to live longer in "Revenge of the Sith".

I like the idea and name drop and/or Dooku having been present at Qui Gon's funeral. It would have provided additional continuity and I, personally, really enjoy that sort of thing. Other than that, I think Dooku was a well crafted character.

The character I really would have wanted to see introduced in passing, but not have much of a role prior to ROTS, would have been Grievous before becoming full blown cyborg.

    YES.
The Jedi part of Dooku really misses : how can we evaluate his fall if we don't know from how high he falls ?

To be honest : I've never really understood why Anakin's fall has been so important for the whole galaxy's history, and why the 20 jedi who fell before him (including Dooku) never impacted so much the curse of the GFFA (even if Dooku created the Separatists move).

ABSOLUTELY YES. One of the very good points in the PT.

We're not supposed to. It isn't important. The story isn't about him. He's just a player, a pawn, within it.

Because he survived to stand by the Emperor's side during the reign of the Empire. The others didn't. He's part of the terror that engulfs the galaxy during that time. The others are not - they are just a footnote. He's instrumental in bringing down the Jedi and the Republic in a way that is more significant than Maul or Dooku.

Plus, he was the chosen one. He was supposed to bring peace to the galaxy. Not lead it into ruin. Or to paraphrase Obi--Wan; he was supposed to destroy the Sith, not join them. Bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness.

Was Dooku still a Jedi by the times of QGJ's funeral?
I've read somewhere he retired from the Order "after his padawan - a.k.a Qui Gon Jinn - successfully passed the tests", but nothing clear about this "after". I suppose QGJ was knighted around 25, and I also suppose he died around 50 : so by the end of TPM, when he was to be burned and buried, it could have been 25 years Dooku was not a Jedi any more...

I wish that, instead of there being a Rule of Two, Sidious, Dooku, and Maul were all Sith Lords from the beginning of TPM. Dooku would be the "dialogue villain" while Maul would be the "action villain". Maul would be Dooku's Apprentice. Bonus points if Maul is female and has Ventress's personality, but still looks like Maul.

As a big Count Dooku fan, I would simply adore if he got more screentime. I genuinely think that a Dooku Star Wars story is still a really good idea.

The idea about them being rivals sounds amazing! Although I'd be a bit sad to see so many of the Clone Wars TV show plots get axed because of the change.... oh well :) I'm sure the writers could come up with something just as good.

Anyway, if they were rivals, I would have loved to see [I pause to think about this :) ].... maybe Dooku feels threatened (in TPM) by Anakin's presence as the "Chosen One," as Dooku would no longer be Qui-Gon's favorite? (Thus foreshadowing how emotional attachment leads away from the Jedi Order...) So Dooku feels betrayed by his former apprentice, Qui-Gon, and leaves the Order (as this emotion's being coupled with Dooku not having faith in Anakin being the fulfillment of the "Chosen One" prophecy; Dooku thinks the High Council is a gang of fools... maybe even throws this in Anakin's face a bit, later). Does my grammar/sentence structure make sense? I think it makes sense... *shrugs* :)

I think it would have been cool for Dooku to secretly take on Maul as an apprentice (or vice versa), in order to try and take down Palpatine. That way, they could keep the rule of two, but still have three sith lords in the movie, yes? Plus, a bit of added tension between all the villains... maybe pick one character to be the more sympathetic villain to root for (kind of like, *spoilers* rooting for Vader to turn back to the light side in Return of the Jedi *no more spoilers*). Maybe this character is Dooku, with Obi-Wan offering him a way back to the Jedi Order. But then the "real" villains (or at least, the less sympathetic ones), Sidious and Maul, end up killing/discarding/exiling the sympathetic villain, Dooku, farther painting the "real" villains as evil, dastardly enemies....

I would have much preferred this to Dooku’s almost direspectful end in ROTS.
