    I disagree with you 100%!

Can look at this at least 2 ways. Snoke + Luke = balanced because on Palpatine and Vaders death, there were only one Sith and one Jedi, "Snoke/Plaeguis" and Luke.

"The Force" is not the same as "Sith" or "Jedi", so from the get go, bringing balance to the force does not mean bring balance to the Sith and Jedi orders. The Force sensitives in the two orders can effect force balance however based on number of them, power and influence of each individual force sensitive.

Another way to look at it, if "balance" means only Jedi remaining alive with no Sith? Plaqueis was removed from the Sith when Palpatine defeated him and became the sole Sith Lord. If Plaeguis/Snoke revived himself he may have to use every bit of force power he has just to keep himself alive, rendering him powerless in terms of the using the Force to effect the Universe or taking back the reigns of being one of two Sith.

To me the best fit for "balancing the force" is when no Force user is using the force in attempt to be in power or have undue influence over the rest of living beings and creation whether they are using light or dark force powers. You remember when Anakin controlled the dark and light brother and sister? That was balance. Neither able to control or effect anything using the force.

I do not think there are two sides to the force. The "Force" is just the force. I think the Dark side (negative emotions) just enables a Force sensitive to channel more power of the force (just like being angry allows people to be a bit stronger through adrenalin), thus allowing them to do things that require more power like lightening.

Maz is evidently pretty force sensitive but she has not used it to try and control the rest of creation or use it to have undue influence. She too would throw off the entire balance theme if just being a powerful force sensitive can effect balance. I think it is how it is used and what effects it has that determine the balance.

If you have 100 million force sensitives in the world that are not using it to change reality or control the universe then it is in balance.

So I think while Snoke was not trying to influence the galaxy over his time since Palpatine defeated him, perhaps it was in balance but now it is not because he has taken on apprentice and is trying to rule the universe using the force and thus the Awakening happened in order to bring back balance. The Force itself is in a natural state when it is balanced.

Imbalance is caused when there is more evil spread around the galaxy than good.
The Force is created by all living things. It's not about numbers of Jedi and Sith - they are the ones who influence events in the galaxy but the imbalance comes from EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. If despair is everywhere, then the beings in the galaxy who create the Force will add more negativity to it than positivity. More evil than good. More fear than hope.
The imbalance comes for instance when the Clone Wars start.
Such an imbalance can only really be caused by Sith because of their immense power. But it isn't impossible for a non-sensitive to cause imbalance.
The Jedi's role is to bring balance. They do this by defeating the evil doers who spread evil.
Snoke can't have been actively doing evil when balance was restored in ROTJ.
Therefore it is likely that he was incapable of doing much or unwilling to come out of the shadows because of his vulnerability. Either way, he wasn't spreading evil, at least until after balance was restored.

I do see what you are you are saying. I guess the point I was getting at in a roundabout way is that balance does not necessarily mean all evil is destroyed. If you have light, you will always have dark. So whether Snoke was active or not, he wouldn't have necessarily interrupted the balance. For me, I think "balancing the force" was two fold. The light way out weighed the dark. I think the Jedi purge headed by Anakin was also part of the balancing, which the Jedi just interpreted the prophecy as destroying just the sith. Later, Vader destroyed the sith from within. Reducing the light and the dark. Snoke could still have fit in without unbalancing it.

Which is my point. Good and evil co-exist. Evil doers however strengthen evil over good.

This is completely incorrect. The light didn't outweigh the dark. The Jedi maintained peace in the galaxy - stopping evil doers from causing harm. This maintained the balance of good and evil. When the Sith emerged, they brought more darkness which took over the light. It doesn't make sense that the jedi caused imbalance as the Force was in balance until the sith emerged. When the Sith emerge the Force's balance begins to slip. The jedi's interpretation was correct and proven to be correct.

The only way Snoke fits in is if he was literally inactive. Not spreading evil despite being a Dark Side - and Dark Siders always want power and commit evil to achieve that. Therefore, Snoke must've been too weak and vulnerable to do anything. This would be the exact case for Plagueis.

I grown up with notion that killing Palpatine and (technically) Vader to brought a balance to the Force. They were 2 last Sith.
The fact we are debating now shows the things have changed.

The light didn't out weigh the dark based on????? 10,000 Jedi running around squashing evil couldn't have made an unbalance? Obi Wan told Anakin he was supposed to destroy the sith, not join them. Yoda said the prophecy may have been missed read. Seems to me the Jedi's view of the prophecy was to destroy the sith (whom they didn't know still existed until recent events). But maybe in order for true balance, both sides need readjusting.

But the Jedi don't = the light side like the Sith don't = the dark side. The Force is created BY ALL LIVING THINGS. The Jedi and Sith use the force and with it have the greatest influence over the Galaxy which then impacts upon the balance. But just because there are 10000 Jedi and 2 Sith, doesn't have any impact upon the balance.

The Force's will is the will of the collective consciousness of the Galaxy. What the Force wants is an end to those who spread evil everywhere. The Jedi don't spread evil. They simply bring light to where darkness is taking hold in the Galaxy. This ensures the balance of good and evil remains.

At what point are you saying the Jedi were causing imbalance? Because what I saw was a Jedi order maintain peace and justice and then when the Sith emerged the balance began to slip and their ability to use the Force was diminished.
