    He's been thru the south end of a sarlac. He was in there for a few hundred years and only partially digested. When Jabbas people went into the sarlac he had to pass Snoke early to make room in its stomach.

    Per Andy Serkis: “He’s aware of what’s gone on, in the respect that he has been around and is aware of prior events. I think it’d be fair to say that he is aware of the past to a great degree.”

    So Snoke sat out the events of the OT/PT at some resort out in the outer rim somewhere. Unfortunately for him, that resort also hosts multiple wookie swinger's conventions each year. When pressed for his participation, he soon realized it was in his best interests to let the wookie win.

    He's been through soapboxes, milk crates, and a dozen jawas standing on each other's shoulders until finally settling on a podium 25 feet tall.

    He's also been through most every EU novel, which is where most of his anger comes from. What most people don't realize is how TFA is a heavy handed metaphor for the SW fan experience.
