I just think it'd be taking quite the leap.
Vader is largely a mystery around the galaxy. He should stay that way IMO

In my opinion, we've seen the last of Vader on the big screen with Rogue One. I would be absolutely shocked if he appeared in the Solo movie.
I guess there is still a chance with the 3rd standalone movie. If it is Kenobi, then I would have much greater expectations of seeing him again.

I can see where you are coming from but if you have Vader but don't use him in a meaningful way then what's the point of having him he would just distract you from the film. So personal I hope he isn't in it. I would rather have some mid level imperials show up ( Please be Newtons character please).

    This too.

I wouldn't hate if they brought Tarkin into it briefly.

if they use the EU thing where I heard he was part of the empire briefly before his smuggling he could say something about how the rumors about vader are true...

I could buy a verbal mention in passing debating his existence.

How could we have not heard of any problems up until now between the directors and the studio.

We didn't hear about any problems about Rogue One until principal photography was completed... Or much about that movie up until that point, for that matter.

Personally, I find this to be good news, in the long run, more than bad news. It means LFL/Kathy will put their foot down when they feel characters or the world are not being given the treatment they should. Maybe they were too comedic too improvizational, who knows? I do find Hollywood Reporter's take to have more of the ring of truth to it, though. They probably didn't get along well with KK and Lawrence Kasdan. That's a quick way to fail "Making Star Wars 101". I trust Kennedy and Kasdan to do whatever it takes to make this movie the right way, and honor Han Solo as he must be in this film. Because it sounds like Lord and Miller were taking it in a direction not quite appropriate for the film or the character. The film will be better for this, and the release date doesn't appear to be changing, so I'm happy.

As far as who will be taking over, including who is rumored to, Ron Howard, I'm sure, would be great, and Joe Johnston deserves a Star Wars film of his own to direct, in my opinion.

I have complete confidence in LFL/Disney/KK here. JJ. Abrams, Gareth Edwards, and Rian Johnson have had nothing but praise for LFL/Disney and their relationship with the film makers. If Lord & Miller has had problems with Kennedy, Kasdan, and others in the production, then my bet is that L&M are the prime reason for and source of these conflicts.

It'll be alright, I'm sure. Kennedy & Co. got this! :)

Bottom line: It's a studio movie and directors have to be willing to play ball and compromise with the studios. L&M weren't willing. They were ousted. JJ, Rian, Gareth all were willing to play ball.

This falls on no one but L&M for not being willing to play ball.

Apparently there really wasn't any "ball" with any of the directors because they were allowed to do pretty much whatever they wanted within reason.

If that's true it really makes you wonder what the hell they were doing on that set.

yeah if they've already filmed most of the movie, you'd think kathleen would have stopped the film and fired them after the first week and dailies.

The account that's popped up on one of the trades (I think it was THR) is that they had creative differences from the start, but they were under the impression that they could work them out over time. They didn't.

As far as I can tell, only Variety did that, while Deadline and The Wrap seemed to indicate that it was multiple factors as opposed to "HOW DARE YOU DO SOMETHING CREATIVE GRR". While her tenure at Lucasfilm thus far has mostly been made up of risk-averse projects (aside from Rogue One and probably The Last Jedi), people take handling a franchise like this for granted. We just saw how a handful of franchise-revivers can go wrong financially if they're not handled correctly (Ghostbusters and The Mummy), and it takes a real kind of leadership to make sure that one can put their foot down and make hard decisions instead of releasing half-hearted movies for the sake of a quick profit.

Something tells me that if this were a male executive, people would be more inclined to believe that something was up with the actual creative differences going on with the movie itself. Don't know why, I just thought I'd point a double-standard out.
