Solo Box Office Predictions

Pretty much. Around $1 billion mark, but probably on the lower side.

 

770-865 global is my guess of a range where it falls but I wouldn't be shocked if it popped and hit a billion if there is a bit of a global uptick and I'd put the basement at about 620.

It's going to have heavy hitter competition for similar audiences nestled between Infinity War and Deadpool 2 and some folks are not going accept anyone but Harrison Ford or a maybe someone impersonating Harrison Ford playing Han Solo and neither is happening so it is hard for me to go too hog wild even if I'm personally very excited now.

 

Good lord....box office predictions already.

Maybe we can talk about numbers of Chinese Movie screens too.....and of course cannot forget the almighty Rotten Tomatoes score, which of course is the sole barometer of film greatness.....

 

Well the movie IS being released in only a few months...I'd say it's worldwide gross will be around $705m

 

I voted "better" but meant "worse"- at least worldwide.

Rogue One had Yen and Wen, who would've been really popular overseas. I don't know if anyone else in Solo has that draw.

Domestically, though, I expect Solo might do slightly better.

 

It will make less than Rogue One (a perfectly fine film).................especially after we all get our meaty claws into it.

Once we have all picked its carcass clean....TLJ will look like a shiny gem in comparison. Much like what happened to TFA after RO and TLJ. SW fandom is funky. Movies seem to get better in fan's eyes after the latest abomination.

I think Solo will be a fun ride though....I really do.

 

If AE plays a good Han. If DG plays a good Lando, but only & i mean only if the STORY is better then R1 then it haves a chance 2 beat R1.

Since it's an early summer film it may (pun not intended) have a long run espically if the story is better then R1.

I liked R1 much but i want Solo 2 b greater.

 

I'm with you Darth Basin The Greatest. I want every SW movie to be better than that last installment. Too many 'NO MOVIE IS BETTER THAN EMPIREEEE!!!" folks around here. (Fair play: Empire is my favorite SW movie)

But I want all of them to be better.

R1 was close. On the right day, it's my favorite.

I think releasing it so soon after TLJ will hurt it slightly.

 

Solo could b the "mouthwash" 2 remove the bad taste of TLJ.

 

Assuming it’s good I’d say it ends up with about $415 million domestic and about $435 internationally. That’s a total of $850 million, which Disney should be happy with coming off the extremely divisive Last Jedi.

If it’s bad it could get really ugly. A lot of people have become indifferent to Star Wars after TLJ. If it’s really bad a good comp might be Justice League. I think a total domestic take of $230-$250 domestic take and a total take of around $550 is the floor.

 

Pretty close to Rogue One, if not better. I'd be shocked if it didn't match Rogue One.

 

tough to predict... Solo box office numbers is.

a May release instead of Christmas, and we've got Infinity war and Pool 2 in the same period.

i like these numbers.. and i think Disney would too.

if it's a great movie, then it will get that comfortably i'd say.
i'll jump on @VOODOO's shirt tails and take 850 for Solo.

Sadly, the Solo box office will be affected by the TLJ backlash, as I think it performs just under R1 box office numbers. I'm looking forward to the movie (even though I hated TLJ), but I know fans that just don't care about SW anymore after TLJ.
