Remember, Leia IS still a princess AND a general, SOOO maybe they'll do something like Romancing the Stone from the 80s, action romance comedy .

Like others have said I kind of expected Han would not make it to Ep 8 but that was months ago. For some reason I didn't think it was gonna happen then in the last scene with Leia I knew it was coming.

The theater was quiet except for me yelling out "good" when Chewie blasted Kylo in the gut. I knew it was coming yet I couldn't believe it. Han Solo was my hero for 38yrs of my life. Not sure I liked him going out that way but it was done well and it worked.

Right, re: Vader... but if, as is apparently the case, Kylo Ren is the son of Han and Leia, and if, as Han's plea for KR to "come home" would suggest, he grew up with his parents and their knowledge of events, why does KR consider Vader a great practicioner of the dark side? Fact was, Vader never fully embraced the dark side. He was manipulated and then trapped by Palpatine, and he knew it. He couldn't use Force lightning, and except for the uncharacteristic baby massacre and the captain of the Tantive IV, we only actually see him killing bad guys. He often shows mercy when it suits him. And he rose up against and defeated Palpatine. Surely Uncle Luke told him, "I was right about him!" If anything, I would think if KR had embraced the dark side, he would loathe Vader and his weak minded betrayal of his master, and he would be doing all he could to atone for his family's ignominious legacy. ;)

Ok, just saw the movie, and we are definitely being toyed with! Not only does it look as if Han might be dead - but Rey's comment to Finn, that that she would see him again, almost smacks of the afterlife, as he is neither stirring nor visibly breathing. When he is taken off the Falcon, he isn't centered in the action, so you cannot even see his face as the busy Resistance folk exclaim, "He's hurt!" The implication is that Han could be just out of view, having somehow been recovered still alive, and that the exclamation could have been about him. Also, if Ben/Ren had really wanted to kill Han rather than simply to convince Snoke of his obedience, he could have sliced him in two. But JJ keeps the actual position of the sword in Han's torso out of the frame. Also, all this "bring him home" stuff doesn't seem likely if Ben is completely beyond redemption. He might even have used the Force to slow his father's fall from the walkway. Leia might have embraced Rey because she recognized her as Luke's child, not because of Han's death - and this s why she was not embracing Chewy instead, because while worried, she knew Han was alive and in capable hands. They are definitely leaving the door open to bringing Han back.

Han Solo will NOT be coming back. I saw a TV interview of Harrison Ford a couple of years ago. He actually does NOT enjoy SW at all. The only thing he does like about SW is all of the money it has given him. Money to do the things that he REALLY enjoys <HIS words. The only reason Harry Ford came back was because he was promised that Han Solo would die. Harry Ford just wants out... out of SW... and out of the world where he is mobbed by crazy fans that he just does not understand (now I am paraphrasing...) But Harry Ford wants out. And we should let him go. Because all of us diehard SW fans want actors/actresses that enjoy the science fiction world of SW that we dream about. We want actors/actresses that salivate at the possibility of jumping into the cockpit of our very own X-wing fighter someday..... Let him go.....

As a kid, seeing Episode 4 the first time, I was pretty stunned by Obi-wan's death.
It was the hero's teacher and this father figure that everyone likes.
Being born later and starting with Episode 1, I can't imagine how I would react to his death after seeing him as a hero in 4 episodes.
Or to Anakin's downfall. But I am a tad older, so I got the ''No, I am your father'' in all it's glory!

Well, Han's death left me stunned in cinema, it was exactly like someone here said, like the air was sucked from the room and someone behind me said ''No way, Blast!'' (the forum filtered a pejorative word).

Maybe Kylo Ren is under mind control? on the bridge when the light broke through, it's as if he was possessed, pleading with Han to help him then when the dark closed in, he became Kylo again? I could just be looking too far into it.

Sucked the air out of me. I wanted to give Chewie a big hug. Poor guy. I could feel his rage and then the emptiness of losing his best friend.

I am fine with Han staying dead if that is what happens. My only reservation about it is what it does to Kylo Ren's character if his murder of his father sticks. But I definitely think the new characters are strong enough to build the series around on their own.

I thought the scene was amazing. I was shocked first of all the hear Han call him Ben. As a fan of the EU, I thought this was a nice subtle nod to the EU. Nice to know its not been completely forgotten.

I agree with @Darth Garth - I thought the light that shone in when Rey and Finn enterned the room and shone on Ben and Han gave the feeling of Ben returning to the light. In my head I was thinking 'Surely this cant happen, no way???' then as the Sun began to darken, I knew what was coming. It reminded me of a piece of conecpt art that has been doing the rounds, where half was in darkness the other side was in the light.

I really do want to believe that by the end of Episode 9 - Ben is back on the Light Side and I REALLY hope he doesnt kill his mother before then.

@AstromechRecords; Unfortunately, Leia is only the princess of an asteroid field.

@ThePurloinedFowl; It would certainly make more sense for Kylo Ren to worship the cloak of Emperor Palpatine. I think it has more to do with Supreme Leader Snoke's manipulation of Kylo Ren. We're lead to believe that Snoke has been watching Kylo since birth, and Snoke uses the legend of Darth Vader as a way to sway Kylo. Kylo doesn't seem like a very intelligent free-thinker.

Talking of Han Solo, was it only me who thought the scene where the escaped Rathtar monsters rolling through the freighter corridors were a deliberate reference to Indiana Jones famous rolling boulders?! ;)
