Is this the Devastator, and does this add more fuel to the fire that Vader is in the movie?!

We all know Rogue One is set just before ANH. We all also saw the awesome teaser, which was very well done (Mon Mothma!) Going through YouTube today, I saw a scene from ANH of a Star Destroyer approaching the Death Star. And after seeing the Rogue One trailer so many times, and hearing online about the slightly different and new Star Destroyer, something clicked. WE'VE SEEN IT BEFORE! IT'S THE DEVASTATOR! Is this new info, or old, idk, but I'm excited! More confirmation of Darth Vader in Rogue One?!

To ber fair, the Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer has appeared before in Rebels, through Kallus, another ISB agent, which adds fuel there that Ben Mendelsen's character is the leader of the ISB, but movie-wise it would be more fitting if it were Vader's command ship!

    Thoughts?!

The only thing that worries me is that they all said that "there are no Jedi or Sith in Rogue One". Now we all know that there have been reports that Vader appears in R1 and unleashes destruction on Rebels, but I'm reserved on the details.

The Imperial-Class SD was a mainstay of the Empire as there were over 25,000 (yes you read that right) of them in service before the fall of the Empire, so I'll hold off on believing it's Vaders ship.

For sure, however this is a Class 1, and not a Class II as seen mostly throughout TESB and ROTJ. We've only really seen this ship in ANH, with the Devastator, and in Rebels with the ISB. Call me hopeful with Vader, but hopefully this could at least be an ISB ship, just like Kallus's in Rebels :D

IIRC that quote just said "no Jedi" in Rogue One.

I read that, but how does it hold up with Solo's remark in ANH?

HAN The entire starfleet couldn't destroy
the whole planet. It'd take a thousand
ships with more fire power than
    I've...

It's like saying 25,000 ships couldn't destroy the whole planet, it'd take a 1,000 ships.

I also do not think that it’s the devastator in that particular scene. Already in the wide shot some second afterwards you see at least seven ISD Class 1 on patrol in the area where the dish is placed.

My guess is, that scene just should establish a sense for the dimensions of the ships and the space station, as well as showing the full might of the Empire.

Hopefully, Vader is not put to patrol duty in that flick, but closer to the action. ;)

I believe it's the Devastator because the design is similar, for once we can see the star destroyer in it's entirety before it makes it's infamous lightspeed chase in TNH.

Unfortunately Vader did not personalised his star destroyer so it's impossible to tell at this stage & we will probably not find out until the film is released. Thought it could be worth asking the story group or maybe the R1 panel at celebration

Well, the creators said there would be no Jedi... but Sith aren't Jedi, are they? (dual)

Agreed...also aren't there multiple destroyers I'm that teaser because it looks to me as if they're simply there to act as a guard to the Death Star while it's weapons are being installed.
