SPECULATION Star Wars: Battlefront II General Discussion

I play allot of COD, one thing I'm wondering is what studio will eventually over throw the COD studios. Since I'm a huge Star Wars fan I really want DICE to be the one. If Battlefront 2 is good i don't think I'll purchase COD this year since i've already pre-ordered BF2. I know that DICE wanted to over throw COD with Battlefield 3, since theFrostbite engine is better than COD but I think that COD is fast paced, allot more fun than Battlefield, and COD has a larger fan following.

Will we be able to talk to other BF2 players in multiplayer this time around since they have dedicated servers? Zombies is a big thing in COD as well, would DICE be savvy enough to have a Stormtrooper Zombie mode as well? I don't want DICE to make a COD clone, but it would be a bit more interesting, I think the reason COD has such a huge fan base is that you have a campaign, multiplayer, Zombies, and world league, so you have something for everyone. I know guys at work go home to play COD because it such a good stress reliever from a really stressful job, some just buy COD just for the campaign, and never play the multiplier, and visa versa. When I first started playing COD allot of guys stated, they don't want to play with a bunch of 12 year olds that have nothing else to do but master and hack the game.

 

Aesthetically, I don't know if "zombies" is quite the right way to go, but I wouldn't mind a return of Hunt mode, with creatures dependent on the location. Tanklike Wampas on Hoth, Geonosian hordes in Geonosis tunnels, hulking Rancors on Dathomir... there's a lot of cool things they could do.

 

I wouldn't mind it either, but I certainly wouldn't expect it. Hunt was probably the least played mode in Battlefront 2, which doesn't make for a good incentive to bring it back.

 

We all know we wanna see Wookiees fighting the Empire/CIS on Kashyyyk alongside the Republic/Rebels

I trust your sources, just find it surprising. I played Hunt a ton. That's too bad, it was a fun game mode.

 

It's something I noticed through observation. On the PS2 and PC versions, I can't speak for the Xbox, the two most played modes were conquest and assault (space & hero). There were seldom any hunt servers, and they either had a very low population, or remained completely empty. Most died out before the eventual Gamespy server shutdown.

Does that mean it wasn't a fun mode? Absolutely not. However, development time is limited, and considering just how much more time and resources it takes to make games now compared to 2004/2005, the dev team at DICE will most likely be prioritizing modes that they know people have and will play. That and it's far more likely we'll see modes carry over from the prior Battlefront then from the legacy titles, this being a reboot and all.

 

I've pre ordered my copy as well I have hopes this will be a good game, if for no other reason than for the new story campaign. I think the first game is fun,I do think there are a ton of flaws with Ea's Battlefront 1. In regards to COD definitely prefer the COD campaigns to most multiplayer modes. I don't think COD will downgrade like you said unless COD WW2 sucks and is a flop, which is quite possible.

 

I was a fan of the original battlefront 2, and bought the new battlefront expecting it to be a better version of the original two games. While it wasn't that, it still was sort of fun, and I like the updates they've done. From all accounts though, the new Battlefront 2 is apparently going to be the best Battlefront game yet. I really like that they are putting all the eras in, and I also like that they are going back to more of a solider class system. I've always wanted a connected planetary battle, where you and other allies can fight in space and on the ground at the same time, if I get that in this game, I'll be the happiest man alive.

 

I don't think we're getting it in this game, as space and ground were actually handled by two entirely different teams.

That being said, we should get it. No excuse to not have it in Battlefront 3, whenever that comes out. After all, we had it in Elite Squadron way back in 2009, and that was actually a pretty good Battlefront game considering it was strictly on PSP.

 

Yeah I'm not expecting it either, but it would sure make the game the best Star Wars video game I've ever played.

 

Who thinks that battlefront 2 will come out for the Nintendo Switch?

 

There were some rumors about that floating around before the game was announced, but they've since turned out to be a bust. Since EA/DICE didn't announce the Switch as a platform when the game was revealed, I doubt we'll see it. At least not initially anyway.

 

I have a bad feeling that it wont be released on the switch but i hope it is because then i wont have to get the switch and a Xbox Scorpio. But if EA dose release it for the switch, it will probably be on downgraded hardware, and also wont be able to be played on the go.

 

Who wants a Vehicles Only mode for the new Battlefront? That would be epic!!

 

I'm excited for this game however I'm still cautious due to battlefront 1 being a disappointment to me. I'm glad they're adding a campaign to battlefront 2 since I prefer single player games. I'm also happy they're adding the clones wars, the galactic civil war and the first Order–Resistance conflict to the campaign and multiplayer. Let's hope they get this game right this time and they listen to fans on future games as well!

 

I'm really intrigued by the story of the single player campaign. I just hope it isn't a mess. I think exploring the life of an imperial soldier in that time is going to be pretty interesting, and am wondering whether instead of just having to fight Rebels, there will be some in-fighting amongst Empire remnant factions, too?

 

I thought Versio would become Captain Phasma but then I saw Phasma w/o a helmet on annndd that thought was ruined
