After 2 years, TFA has maintained onto its quality - the film is still story-less, but its charisma makes up for the deficit of story, and the movie still has the theme of rejecting symmetry

I struggled to watch it on Blu ray. When I first watched it at the cinema I thought it as funish but really poorly structured. Now after watching/trying to watch it a few times the plot, story and mugiffin are terribly constructed. I don't mind them copying A New Hope, but to make Luke the mugiffin was a terrible idea. There still has been, to me, no explanation why finding Luke was so important to both sides. And finding him played absolutely no role in the movie itself, so apart from advertising the next movie finding him served no purpose.

Add onto that everything about Star Killer base being abysmal. The rebel commanders planning room scene was something I still hate. The old rebellion officers were always the most serious of the old movies. They were in a life and death struggle so it weighed on them. In this movie they are dancing around like actors in the first class of acting school. Finn being a Janitor who knew all about the structure and weaknesses of the base was silly.

But the whole first two acts are about finding Luke then suddenly it is about stopping Star Killer base. The movie is all over the place.

But after watching the Last Jedi I now look back at it in a more positive light. It is shot well, VFX are great and the comedy works in the consistent tone of the film.

I watched 4 times in the theathers and 1 in blue ray. Is the most beatiful movie viasually (need to chek TLJ onfe again) in the SW saga.
Rey's introduction one of the best moments of all saga, also.
The duel in the snow between Kylo x Rey one of the best duels so far, maybe only behind of Luke x Vader in TESB and ROTJ.

I will never be bored with this film, like the most entertaining films from the 80. I can see it again and again and again. I think i have seen it 10-12 times, always with the same feeling. Perfectly executed, so solid, visually so powerful, really charismatic and so emotional, with a classic cinematography. Just love it.

    TFA is a timeless gem.

TLJ actually emended the experience for me. Some of the scenes with Rey, especially her introduction or her scenes with Maz, Finn, Han, Leia and finally Luke are emended by what what I saw in TLJ. Watching TFA and TLJ back to back, with the knowledge where the story would be progressing in TLJ, is one of my most satisfying Star Wars experiences ever.

TFA is amazing. In all ways. Characters, adventure, emotions, soundtrack and visuals (probably the best of the entire saga).
But I still cant decide wich one I like most: TFA or TLJ. Time will tell.

I always go for this option: I like ESB, TFA and TLJ just as much. As if they were my children.

Nahh, ANH doesn't age very well with me. It is beatiful. It has historical significance. But can also be very boring and slow. Pacing is important. Even in the 70s.

ROTJ. I really love ROTJ. But not as much as as ESB, TLJ and TFA.

But I do get that some people just find it very hard to choose. Episodes IV - VIII are all just very good :p

Saw TFA several times, and i have to say that i really like the movie!

IMO TFA is better than TLJ. But time and multiple viewings will tell if i can enjoy TLJ like TFA.

I remember walking out of the TLJ Premiere and i was kinda stunned. Unfortunately not in the good way. It was more like "uhm...i don't know what tho think about this movie."

In Comparison, after TFA Premiere i was like " ok it had its flaws, but it was a great movie. lets have some beers and discuss it!".

I rewatched TFA last Night after work and wrote down some small, tiny, nitpicky, random details I spotted.
Some were new to me, some always get me when I watch this movie, some might have changed in my mind, some got rediscovered.
These are just my random thoughts on it, feel free to join in! :)

-how Poe readies his Weapon before he blasts the Troopers on Jakku

-MVS really had some strange Lines...every second Sentence to Kylo is hinting on his Family. One or two Hints woul've worked better. It's a bit of an overkill.

-How poe is amazed (for Lack of a better word) by the sight of the insides of the Finalizer. He hasn't ever seen a FO Star Destroyer from the Inside, did he? (just
know "Before the Awakening" and the Movies)

-How Finn is easy about killing dozens of his Comrades in the Hangar. Out of the Blue.

-Poes and Finns chemistry in theTIE. Just lovely

    -Hux' comment about Clone Troops

-Poes and Finns Jacket Moment. "Thats my Jacket." I love it :D

-Loved Hologram Snoke. He was so mysterious back then.

-Finn is great, but I felt some Chris Tucker-Rush Hour vibes sometimes

    -BB8s acoustic signals.

-First Appearance of the Falcon (cinema cheered and applauded back then)

-Reys and Finns Scene wile repairing the Falcon

-Wish there was at least one Line about the loss of Han's Freighter. That thing must've been expensive.

-Also, I like how Han and Chewie reacted upon finding out that the Falcon was on Jakku

-Also, the Rathars(?) didn't work for me. I would have preferred a nice Shootout with the Gangs instead.

-How snoke refers to Kylo as the Master of the Knights of Ren

-The whole "its true, all of it"-Scene is soo magical. The Look on Rey's Face. The Look on Finn's Face. Han's Face. Chewie. The Blue Light. The Music. The Falcon's Interieur. awwwww

-How Rey enjoys the scenery and the green on Takodana

    -Maz' HAAAAN Solo

-Hux speech at Starkiller Base. (I wonder how it would've looked like if they casted Nicolas Cage as Hux)

-That Fist-Greet-Thing the Troopers do. And it's just done once in all three Movies. Cmon.

-How Rey fumbles with Han's Pistol and misses at first

-Rey sneaking on Starkiller Base is even more laughable than the sneaking around on Deathstar 1 in ANH

-Solos face when he hears Sanitation

-3PO's "Thank the Maker!" after the Shields are down

-Hux' View of Terror(Disbelief?) when all the Xwings are on Attack

-Rey and Finns Hug upon renuiting at SKB

-Han's confrontation with Kylo could have used some more time to breathe

-I loved how the FO improved the Empires Aesthetics, more contrast, purer. Looking better, more expensive, more "evil also. Idk how to describe it

-How the Lightsabers evaporated the snow

    Thats all from me.

This thread is gonna make me rewatch this tonight.

To go on from what you said @Lenerith - that ‘it’s true, all of it’ scene is incredible. Han’s face when they mention Luke, It truly paints a thousand words. I love their friendship, and you can tell how much history had gone on between the pair. Always a bit criminal we never saw them together again, but that scene is amazing, truly feel like Harrison stole the show.

I'g gladly watch TFA again and again, it was my favourite time as a Star Wars fan in the Disney era, well so far anyway. That period from TFA first teaser trailer (Nov 14) up to the release of TLJ was amazing.

I've re-watched TFA, R1 and Solo many times.

I've always really liked TFA (It got me back into Star Wars after almost a decade of burnout) but recent reviewing have made me really appreciate some aspects of it that I hadn't appreciated as much in the past.

Obviously the scenes on Jakku are iconic, as is Han's introduction and Rey's first interactions with Ren.

But there are some things I've only recently begun to appreciate- stuff like Han's alluded to backstory with the Kanji Klub/rathrars, the scenes with the Resistance bace on D'Qar, etc.

I don't think I originally gave TFA enough credit for actually doing some decent worldbuilding- perhaps because things weren't quite how I'd have imagined them to go down (and obviously, that's ok!).

Cool. I thought it was only me. Because most of the people complained that the CGI was not good enough.

Actually I love the first scene when Snoke appears because was the first great surprise in the SW disney era to me.

Before the movie came out some of the rumors were that Snoke was a giant. So that scene kind of freaked me out, hopefully was only a hologram.:D

That definitely struck me as odd too. Like when we casually skewers that trooper with a lightsaber. These weren’t strangers to him. He was sitting down having tasteless cafeteria food with these guys the day before. Weirdly remorseless. Oh well. They don’t have faces, so they don’t have feelings. Such is things.
Nah, probably swindled some poor sucker out of it. Maybe a member of that “bigger crew”.
I love how the whole of Starkiller Base is out looking for her and Han just spots her out a window.
I just remember being confused why they didn’t bother to do him practical. What about that scene needed him to be mo-cap? Put Andy Serkis in some make-up and call it a day. TLJ sold me a bit more on that cartoon Snoke though. Worked pretty well.
I remember thinking the same thing. Then when he faded out, all I could think was "Wait, was that the point of this giant room? Just so he could have a giant hologram? Man, really puts the 'supreme' in Supreme Leader, huh."

TFA was a great intro into the sequels. It was similar to ANH which was the intro to the OT’s. We get plenty if characters and a new antagonist. We also get a bit old Han and Lei which was cool. After watching the movie a least 3 times, I realized how great the acting is. At least, I think so! If I were to rate the movie out of 10, I’d give it a 7.5! Thats pretty good, ain’t it?

The more I'm figuring out about the plot holes left in VII just by my own speculations and the obvious things like them going straight Maz's castle which houses the saber... The more I am seeing this film as a brilliant story set up and star wars truly, truly is back. the story is amazing. what felt like "movie convenience" is not convenience at all. Han Solo knew he was picking up Rey.
