I haven't read through all 9 pages of this thread, but my immediate complaint was I wish they'd put Luke on the cover now. Not much of a spoiler, cuz I think every person on planet including the eskimos of the Arctic went to see this in the theaters. And while I'm at it, I'm still not liking this cover anyway. I mean, I was expecting something more old school for the cover of the movie instead of this photoshop job.

Yeah it was just as fun on VHS but I'd rent the dvd and watch the bonus features only which was (multiple) movies in themselves .

I think a lace of commentary was massively disappointing. It would have been pretty easy to do.

I was having a glimpse of the bonus disc earlier and it made me think. I sure hope the amount of extras on it doesn't become the norm for the blu-rays of these movies; ie. 70 minute Making-of, handful of featurettes and 4 minutes of deleted scenes. When George was still head of Lucsafilm, he made sure these releases were the kind every fan would want to own, with hours of extras.

And the biggest disappointment is the fact that Disney says they AREN'T holding any extras back for future releases. Allow me to oversee the production of these blu-rays and they would be jam-packed Ultimate Definitive Editions.

I noticed a cool thing on the swedish blu-ray.
When Rey say something like: "This is the millenium falcon, the ship that made the kesslel run in 14 parsec?", the swedish translator made a nerdy change. The subtitle is still a correct translation but the meaning of the sentence in swedish is more like "...the ship that made the kessel run into only 14 parsec?".
So perhaps the kessel run isnt based on time. It could be like a orientation run. Perhaps the falcon made a shortcut throu an astroid field and then shorted the distanse of the kessel run.
I dont know if anyone is interested in this but its something i noticed...

    From the novelization:

    HAN
Fast ship? You've never heard of the
    Millennium Falcon?

    BEN
    Should I have?

    HAN
It's the ship that made the Kessel
run in less than twelve parsecs!

Ben reacts to Solo's stupid attempt to impress them with
    obvious misinformation.

The usual explanation I hear, and I believe, is that the Kessel Run is extremely difficult to navigate. Time consuming, lots of twists and turns, curves, and obstacles. So if you, or your navicomputer, are particularly advanced in navigating difficult spaces, you can shorten the amount of distance you have to move over. It's an efficiency problem. If the fastest/shortest trip is in a straight line, but a straight line would be difficult or impossible to travel on, you have to try to take the straightest path you otherwise can.

Han usually talks big but considering the kinds of maneuvers we've seen it do, I wouldn't be shocked for it to fly that fast with Han Han maybe fudging the numbers a tad .

Considering he repeats the number in TFA, at a time when he clearly is a more honest and decent man than in ANH, I think the number is accurate, even though he was clearly boasting in ANH.

Maybe it was just a sort of unsuccessful attempt to use the RL meaning of parsec, which is a unit of measure for distance, rather than for time? I guess if the translator didn't have any idea what a Kessel Run was, they wouldn't know what a mess they were making of the idea. :p

I spoke to Disney this morning and they said the Blu-ray was produced by them, not Lucasfilm. When I mentioned the total lack of extras compared with the other movies' releases, all they said is they'll pass my comments onto marketing. I could've done a far better job.

Maybe have respective sections for the First Order and Resistance with each looking into aspects of technology, characters, vehicles. Perhaps also select each relevant destination from the film (Jakku, Takodana, D'Qar, Starkiller Base etc.) and get closer looks at places and action sequences.

For anyone interested, I'm currently doing a slight update and modification of my Blu-ray extras listing. For each planet featured in the movie, it'll have featurettes surrounding each one. For example on Starkiller Base, featurettes looking at the filming of Han Solo's death and Daniel Craig being a stormtrooper. For Anch-To, a look at Skellig Michael and featurette looking at shooting the Rey-meets-Luke scene.
