Some recent Disney movies were not released on 3D Blu-Ray, but they were released in 3D on Playstation Network, and I think also on Vudu. There may have been 3D options on other download sites, although iTunes does not sell 3D content, and I have no idea how Whatever System XBox Uses (TM) works.

(Not looking to start a platform argument, but I personally just don't have any XBox experience.)

Great commercial video. Will TFA extras beat TPM extras for DVD back in 1999? I hope so.

I didn't really like TPM but the amount of behind the scenes stuff and seeing a Star Wars movie get made was more entertaining than the movie itself. I really hope they do as good of a job with TFA extra features.

Back in 99 I was 16 years old and I had recently bought my first DVD player. So I rented the dvd and I spent all day long watching the extras. More than 10 hours of material, was something new to me at that time.

I'm glad the digital release is only 4 days ahead of the Blu-Ray. I was worried I'd have to test my patience for half a month waiting for the physical copy...

360 as in a complete sphere of sound... not just a hemisphere which is what atmos is. The system Trumbull put together has acoustically transparent flooring with speakers beneath for sound coming from below. I'm happy with the hemisphere... but I could see plenty of opportunities for sound coming from beneath, just simple things like footsteps or rustling of leaves, rain hitting the ground... lots of possibilities.

Atmos I'm sure will be more fine tuned over time, right now the object placement is kind of weak, but a huge improvement over 7.1 to be sure.

I'm sure it will take a while for Trumble's system to take off though... the theater chains spent a fortune installing atmos theaters & AMC with the PRIMES.
    --- Double Post Merged, Mar 4, 2016 ---
& I forgot... yeah TFA was mastered in Atmos... though the mix was tame compared to other Atmos features I heard which I found puzzling... though the falcon flying over head was a nice touch to be sure!

    On bluray it's only 7.1.

Though since all UHD releases from this point on will be Atmos (I believe?) that version should include a 1080p disc with Atmos... so looks like I'll have 3 versions of the film (lol). I don't own a UHD set but it would be worth it for the Atmos mix alone... just sucks that I have to pick between which features I want for that particular viewing instead of having both :(

    Maybe someday...

I did the same thing but with AOTC & ROTS...My favorite was ROTS Bonus Features...I didn't have cable growing up for the most part so i relied on waching these 51 billion trillion times a day and I sure do hope that TFA outdoes it, but with the lack of features in these days I wouldn't expect there to be much except for lite-features .

My theaters has a hybrid 7.1 masterd 12-speaker atmos hybrid thing but maybe I should invest in this and it would upconvert and be beautiful with TFA...now if only we could get a 4k version at some point down the road :) .

AOTC & ROTS weren't on the same level as far as the behind the scenes extra features goes. For TPM they pretty much made a documentary of the making of that movie while making the movie starting in pre production and going all the way to after the release of the film.

Just got an email from Disney AU which I have already sent to Viral with the runtimes of all the extras on Disc 2 of the Blu-ray and you're all not going to be very happy at all. The total runtime of the extras is just under:

    "1hr 58min!!!!!!" :mad::mad: :mad::mad:

I believe any theater that projected it with laser (AMC PRIME or IMAX LASER) was playing TFA in 4k... though any pure CGI scene was 1080p... I heard those all CG scenes' DI was set @ 1080p unfortunately... so no 4K for things like the falcon chase or anything with the Star Destroyers.

I think 2 hrs is enough for me. I rarely watch the features all the time but I'll be watching the movie over and over regardless. :D

2 hours is not quite as long as I was hoping, but it's definitely better than the half hour we got on the Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-Ray. I presume I'll be content with what we have, as long as the quality is good. I just hope we get enough time dedicated to the pre-production phase, and how the project evolved into what became TFA. Reading some of the descriptions and seeing the paintings in The Art of the Force Awakens fed my curiosity!
