Anything yet? It's the 1st of march and if Disney doesn't confirm the April 5th date soon I'm gonna be lucked out on booking time off from work. Thing is if I book it off now and the date isn't the 5th...it be too late for me to unbook the time off.

Please Disney don't leave me hanging. I need to know for sure.

Well no 2016 3D TVs support 3D, so...maybe that's why...or maybe he normal order on Disney.com will have their typical packaging of "3D - Bluray + DVD/Digital Copy"

    Not from me!
    --- Double Post Merged, Mar 3, 2016 ---
Actually, most of the upcoming LG 4k OLED TVs have passive 3D, but because they are 4k displays, they can show full1080p for each eye. Home Theater forums say that OLED 3D looks great.
There's still money to be made worldwide with 3D blus; hopefully there's a version coming soon, or a retail exclusive.

Yeah that's for home theater system type of deals. And yes, you can buy them from LG like you can from Samsung. To clarify my statement, I meant that the NEW line ups, as in the new release tvs for consumers (2016 model years and forward) don't utilize 3D as they're going for more functionality for "Smart TV" over anything else. Going back into THIS a discussion, however, that might be why Disney might not do A 3D release which is due to the waning popularity of consumer-3D and Disney is ahead of the curve in many aspects of home entertainment and media in various formats...however you can still get the new-class home theater premium tvs in all
Sorts of 3D my theater in my house utilizes a special system of 3-axis D-Box, practical screen (which I'm upgrading soon), THX/Dolby-certified 3D-4K Projector system...I can't wait to test TFA on my theater regardless of the format so as much as we have our preferences, we should be glad to get it in whatever format it comes it which is my conclusion :) .

That's interesting. Reminds me of the Diamond Luxe Gravity Blu-Ray that unfolds in a similar way and is held together magnetically when closed. That's one of my favorite pieces in my Blu-Ray collection just because of the superb packaging. (It's also one of the few Blu-Rays that doesn't pull punches on bonus content!)

I might just get this one. I'll unfold the case and display the fantastic poster art after I put the disc in my custom TFA case.

There'll be a 3D version later this year.

Some of the new 4K TV's do support 3D, there are certain brands that stopped adding that function to their sets.

The UHD spec doesn't currently allow for 3D due to bandwidth issues... the processing/ data/ & delivery methods can't accommodate what's required... that might change in a few years though. When Cameron releases Avatar there'll be a new push for 3D to be sure... he's an industry heavyweight & will be looking to push that with HFR as well. Douglas Trumbull (the guy who did the VFX for 2001 space Odyssey) is pitching a new commercial theater system that is HFR laser & 360 degree sound capable.

    .... Im just getting the Blu-rey. I don't need 3D. I don't have a TV that enables 3d

Anyway I already pre-ordered the steelbook at best buy so hopefully I will have it on April 5th or after. Not sure how it works. I would think that most retail stores get their movie shipments a week before they can be put out on the shelves.
And then have em set ready on shelf on the Monday night before Tuesday morning when they open for business

Isn't that similar to Dolby Atmos...which TFA should be mastered in .
