TFA. Final Lightsaber Duel?

Two problems with this:
1) Why did it take him such a long time to sense they were in trouble? He should have sensed it as soon as Jakku was raided.
2) How did he get to the forest so quickly? With the attack on Skywalker base (and likely in space above the planet) it would not be easy to get into that base and the rumor is the First Order uses their super weapon killing everything in space. I doubt he just "shows up" at the most climatic moment of the movie - at least not in this way.

The Force doesn't always give you all the answers when you want them, man. Not even Yoda could get past the shroud of the dark side that Palpatine had cast over.

And, oh, there is possibility of him being on a really freakin' remote planet- you know, given that he has been away for a long time, and people who are away for a long time are probably trying not to be found.
2) Maybe he went to the planet when he sensed that Rey had been taken custody, and he absolutely could not let Kylo Ren get his hands on her.

Who says she defeats him (in the sense she kills him)? The rumor is Kylo falls off the side of a cliff when the rock breaks. Really all she has to do is be strong enough to make him fight another day. She's been wielding a staff for years. I do not think she ever had formal training (I actually wrote a thread on it). But I believe one so strong in the force will have developed many skills over the years whether she realizes them or not.

Oh, great. She's been going against thugs with a staff on Jakku. That really sets her up to take on a trained dark sider in a lightsaber duel who also has the benefit of using some Force powers.

She's around 20 years old and I wish I could marry her . But you're point is not valid. An adult vs. a 9 year old will have significant differences in their strength and experiences.

You're justifying my response by saying Luke did some unreal things. Why could Rey not do the same? She could easily be a more experienced warrior than Luke ever was because at least Luke had family. Rey had absolutely no one from what we know of (Perhaps the Vicar watched over her).

That is NOT even close to ANH. The reason Han saving the day worked in ANH is because
1) Han was in the movie already.
2) The scene was a redemption of Han's character. He was supposed to be gone already to pay back his debt. But HE STAYS! That makes us feel for his character.

What has Luke done but not be in the movie at this point (excluding flashbacks)? His character doesn't need redeeming. What our heroes need to do is successfully find him - not go on a quest to find him only for Luke to find them.

Then, we have the little issue of Luke not yet fulfilling his promise to Yoda to pass on what he has learned- at least not in the effective sense of rebuilding the Jedi. So he's got a debt to pay off, there.

All in all, it's quite clear that Luke has a hell of a responsibility to live up to, at the very minimum. Making sure at least one Jedi Apprentice to be (and maybe another) doesn't get killed seems like a pretty damned good start.

While there is a lot of movie we haven't seen or heard about, you are also implying that Luke flies on the Falcon with our heroes at the end of the movie to Skellig Michael. That is possible. But it has not been justified at this point.

Even if Luke comes to save the day, THIS STILL HAPPENS! Rey realises her destiny is to become a jedi. Who says it is all out of good too? She is likely filled with tons of anger at that point and will use it to her advantage.

It has been strongly rumored Maz Kanata tells Rey the lightsaber called to her and Rey is supposed to wield it. But Rey does not believe so. So Finn holds onto it until Rey is ready. Well Rey is ready to redeem herself at the climax of the movie.

As I believe I said earlier, taking on pirates on Jakku is nothing compared to taking on someone trained in the dark side of the Force.

It's one thing to be mad that Luke is likely not in the movie much. But it is another thing entirely to be in denile of that fact. I truly believe we do not see his face until the end of the movie. It will be the biggest cliffhanger of all time. It's bold but it works.

I wouldn't be mad if he's not in the movie much. I would be mad if the story writers basically destroyed the significance of his character. That would be bold, and it would NOT work. You seem to think it's a good idea to destroy his character.

Luke Skywalker is the heart and soul of Star Wars. Star Wars is really about him, and the entire moral and philosopical argument of the fims is founded on his story. At the very least, he must be an absolutely epic figure in this trilogy and must affect things.

It is totally the wrong direction to take him in the useless "Old Obi-Wan hiding in a hut who can't do jack with the Force and looks like a an old man swinging a cane in a lightsaber duel." That is just simply unacceptable. All of the canon up to this point basically sets him up to be the most powerful Force sensitive ever, which Lucas himself has confirmed. This must be on display and must be respected for Star Wars to be credible. It's what his character is owed, in a way, because of the weight that he carried to make the movies work as moral tales.

There must be a REASON people are looking for him. It can't just be, "Oh, we got this Rey kid, she's pretty powerful, let's send her to the Skywalker gyym on Skellig Michael so she can get a few reps in with Luke, and she'll be ready to be the Force Goddess of all the universe." Nobody was looking for Obi-Wan or Yoda in ANH; it just so happened that Leia as about to be captured at Tatoine, and her father told her about this guy from the Old Republic days who was there, so she sent the droids to be with them. From everything we have heard, everyone is looking for Luke.

You act like Kylo is the GOAT. Not really. That belongs to Vader. We don't know who is the most powerful darksider in this new saga. But it is likely Snoke. All of the Knights of Ren could have force powers (the trailer makes me doubt it though). If that is the case, she is going to need more training.

I didn't read or go over all the topic posts yet.
2nd;
I posted a response in a different topic but it's a lot like what is discussed here.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS:

It was reported approx 12-14mo ago that a TFA stunt performer rehearsed a pivotal scene where Luke may fight off 2 bad guys. This MAY be in the end where Luke fights both Snoke & Kylo Ren.
It's also noted by actor Andy Sedikis(Snoke) that he has a action scene that required intense stunt training, harness work, CGI, etc. this may be the 3rd act light saber fight with Luke.

It's possible both Kylo Ren and Snoke live but are soundly defeated by Skywalker.
This fight scene may also be why force ghost Yoda(Frank Oz) has a brief scene with either Luke or the young leads in the ending.

The new tidbits that Snoke is in fact 20-30' tall adds a new twist to the topic posts on the forum .
It strikes me as odd that I didn't pick up on the CGI-set pics(media) of actor/director Andy Sedikis using stilts(legs) & equipment attached to his arms(hands). This figure after CGI/DFX would appear larger or more imposing.
Maybe not 20-30' but more like 15-25' tall.

PS: not to fan the flames or upset any members, but many of the images(web artwork) of Darth Plaguis show him to be very tall. 12'-16' or so. Hmmmmm .....
