OFFICIAL NEWS TFA Teaser Trailer 1 (11.28.2014) Discussion Thread.

I read an interview with Disney CEO Bob Iger today he said he was against releasing the teaser this early. But he changed his mind after hearing from the fans and realizing how much they wanted to see something of the movie.

Finally someone is listening to us who are making the SW movies!!

 

OR that was him secretly saying there IS something planned for Christmas...

 

Now we're just reading too much into things....

Sounds like it was more JJ who was hesitant to show footage this soon. Still he managed to show us something without giving us much more than what was already out either officially or leaked.

not sure if this has been said before - i read this site daily but i can't go through all 52 pages of this thread lol...

at the beginning of the trailer.. can Boyega see properly? yes his eyes are open, and he turns as though he's having a look around.. but that very first look of him... hmmm. i'm not sure he can see anything/very much.

maybe i've seen it too many times and i'm looking too hard? yeah right lol, like anyone here will agree with that.

 

You're not alone! I actually had that same thought a few minutes ago after reading the last coupla posts on the Boyega thread. Could be nothing, but of course, it could be something

Carbonite? Hmmmm.

 

It's a male voice. The 'reveal' in this film won't be on the level of 'He's a man, man!'

I will bet the farm that the voice is male, and the bad dude in the trailer is a male. To speculate otherwise is just 'different.'

(Obviously we all know it's Serkis'/Gollum in the trailer, but still......'it could be a she!'.....ummm.....No.)

So it's been a few weeks, and in my opinion the most compelling and exciting sequence from the trailer is Kylo Ren. There's something altogether menacing and badass about his posture, the way he moves, and especially the way he draws and ignites the saber. After the pedantic whining about the triple-beam saber died down, I could refocus on the fact that if I were 8 years old, this would be the coolest thing I'd ever seen. yeah, I always did have a soft spot for the bad guys. And let's be honest - we like Luke, but we LOVE Vader.

Although I do wonder... is he bad? I still think we don't know enough about the story to conclude anything, and while the red saber denotes evil intent, I just wonder.

BTW, after FINALLY watching Mud this past weekend, I'm really excited to see Driver and Egerton in Midnight Special. John Carpenter tribute? Sci-Fi chase movie? I'm in. It's still hard to believe Jeff Nichols was that high school kid hanging out at the skate park with his big brother (Ben, lead singer and guitarist with Lucero) watching our dumb bands play.

I apologize if this has already been discussed before. I haven't read the entire thread, but I think I'm seeing two different points of misdirection in 2 trailer scenes and am guessing that this was JJ's intent.

1) The scene with Rey getting on her speeder bike and the cut to her on the speeder bike racing towards a village/base. There's two things inconsistent: Her goggles, and the lack of a staff/lightstaber strapped to the speeder bike.
2) Poe Dameron's uniform colors do not match up with the scene of the 3 X-Wings. The view of Poe in the cockpit is from a different point in time of the movie, than the 3 X-Wings racing across the lake.

It's my belief that JJ Abrams intentionally cut these 2 groups of 4 scenes to make us believe something different was happening as a form of misdirection.

I just realized we have seen no interior sets so far. Everything they gave us setwise was stuff we already kinda know. Desert, mountains etc. But we got nothing that compares to the inside of the Death Star, Bespin carbonite chamber, Jabba's palace, Kenobi's home, Yoda's hut etc. Can't wait to see stuff like that, especially how they will handle the lighting, camera movement and details like that. #mysterybox

 

Need a teaser #2 before I go crazy hermit Luke.

 

The trailer was very carefully crafted... it told us everything we needed, introduced us to all the new characters, hyped excitement beyond any expectation, and told us absolutely nothing... perfect

 

Yeah, I agree. It was everything a TEASER should be!!

 

I realized today I haven't watched it this week. But it keeps haunting me. I agree it was brilliantly put together, in terms of making us so READY FOR IT.
