What fascinates me most is the setting. In an era where the Jedi are probably sitting pretty atop an unprecedented era of peace (I'm assuming the Nihil have long since been dealt with) at the absolute height of their power, it'll be interesting to see how they respond to what I assume will be a member of their order preemptively stumbling upon the Sith conspiracy that had been set in motion millennia ago by Darth Bane... or to be more precise: How they won't respond, given that by the time The Phantom Menace takes place (a century later) they still believed them extinct.

'The Acolyte' is the Star Wars show I'm looking forward to the most. But the trailer was kinda underwhelming. Maybe it's because the trailer is pretty similar to the one at SWC and I already knew most of the footage.

I wish the trailer would have used more Star Warsy music. The visuals and cast look awesome.

It's really interesting to have a crime focused story. Kinda like a crime thriller. I'm looking forward to it.

Another one: Han's fingers have blood on them at the bunker when Leia got shot in the arm in ROTJ.

Nothing like a new trailer to get the midichlorians flowing in the morning.

Almost positive, and the look of it sure felt that way.

Are we in the era of the High Republic? They had a Wookiees Jedi, didn't they? Apologies for my ignorance, I haven't read those yet.

I read it's set 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace. I can't say I knew when the High Republic era was, but a quick look on Wookipedia tells me it's 500 - 100 years before the battle of Yavin, so I think that's a 'yes', set in it's final days anyway

Anyone remember the burned skeletons of Luke's aunt and uncle in ANH?
Seriously creeped me out as a kid, along with the alien's severed arm.

We're at the very tail end of the High Republic (c. 100 years prior to TPM, as @Too Bob Bit mentioned).
The bald, green woman is the only character carrying over from the High Republic books and comics (she's a major character there called Vernestra Rwoh), but she's much older here.

The wookiee is Kelnacca (played by Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo), and it's not the same character as Burryaga Agaburry from the High Republic books.

    :)

And there's blood trickling down Wedge's face in the snowspeeder on Hoth. Funny, Empire Wedge always looked different to me than ANH and ROTJ Wedge.

I have watched the trailer several times and I am…..underwhelmed. It pains me to say this because I am starving for something Star Wars (on the live action tv front) that I find exemplary. (I have thus been underwhelmed by all the live action shows to date on Disney+) I am not in panic mode yet because this is a teaser and not a full trailer, so what we are witnessing may not be an accurate portrayal of the show. (Example: Ahsoka’s first trailer delighted me with its fast-paced action and scenery. But when I actually saw the show, it fell flat in my opinion.) Here’s my takeaway for Acolyte:
    - for a show that supposedly focuses on the Sith and not the jedi, there seemed to be a lot of scenes with Jedi and not sith.
-Who exactly is Amanda Stenberg’s character? It is presumed she is a Sith Acolyte, but nowhere in the trailer does she exhibit Force moves. She resorts to knife-fighting and kung-fu moves. We presume Amanda Stenberg is Lee Jung-Jae’s former padowan learner, so why no Force usage?
-The official synopsis says Lee Jung-Jae is reunited with Stenberg to help solve the mystery. Huh? He’s working with the same person who’s central to the mystery they’re investigating? (Before you say “well there’s no proof Amanda Stenberg is the one causing havoc,” doesn’t the trailer make it clear Stenberg is punching Jedi and causing havoc in public view?) It almost seems like there’s two Amanda Stenberg characters.
-For a show set deep in the High Republic, there isn’t a whole lot of scenery screaming “High Republic.” Again, Disney is resorting to open-air flea markets, green Skelleg Michael-looking seascapes, and the same Jedi temple. Disney does a poor job at showcasing unique eras. Everything is so homogenized, it feels we’ve been stuck in an 80’s movie since The Force Awakens, even though there are hundreds of years difference.
-Thank god for the scene where Vernestra is walking through the open doors. THAT was the classic High Republic look I wish the trailer would have featured throughout. I liked Vern in the novels, and I have a feeling she will be my favorite character in Acolyte.
    - For a show that claims to have moved on from the Skywalker films, it opens right off the bat with Lee Jung-Jae directly quoting A New Hope.
Some other thoughts not from the teaser:
I am utterly torn because Leslye Headland’s new comments sound brilliant. What she says makes this sound like the most interesting Lucasfilm project to date. I also feel like she knows what to emphasize, as far as themes. But nothing in the trailer seemed to reflect what she says.
-I am a bit worried by the episodes being cartoon-length. Didn’t Leslye Headland say “this show will evoke Andor more than the other shows.” [paraphrase.] Huh? So the show will be slow and methodical, but only be 30 minutes long? This runs the risk for nothing happening during entire episodes.

Not interested in it right now but I'll check out the trailer and at least the first episode. I was wrong about this one and I also wasn't all that interested in Ahsoka until I saw the trailers and first episode got me

Looks so refreshing, dark and interesting! Love it!
It seems it has new cool characters and races with cool names and costumes and the story seems also interesting.

Also is fascinating to see a new period and as is more like PT style (than OT and ST) will be fresh to see new action and dialogs cause PT has its weak parts with that.

If i have to say less positive thoughts: it's hard to find good kids with great acting skills. I hope those little padawans will be not distracting and they will have short screetimes.

And the running time of episodes, 30-40, seems pretty short to me. I always want more :)

Really excited to see new SW content!!

One brief aside regarding the length of the Acolyte episodes:

George Lucas originally wanted to remake Flash Gordon before his ideas morphed into what became the original Star Wars. George loved the old Flash Gordon movie serials. The whole idea behind them was to break the story up into short, little film 'chapters' and continually excite kids to come back week after week to see what happens in the next episode.

I suspect that when Jon and Dave laid out the Disney+ approach to Star Wars, they were paying homage to the Flash Gordon serial approach to story-telling. At least that's my take and I'm sticking to it. ;)

Does seem kinda short but could be ok. All depends on the episode themselves and their stories. All about the execution and flow!

Those shows have covered a lot of ground. If you're now loving it so far, I'm not sure you'll love anything going forward.
The discourse around running times is my new "internet discourse pet peeve." Something doesn't have to be an hour to be good. Something that's shorter doesn't mean it's bad. Heck, in this short attention span culture, shorter is probably better. For decades the average TV show was around 45 minutes with 15 minutes of commercials. That's plenty of time to tell a good story.

    Absolutely.

Not much no :) Some had the right tempo and length, others felt short though. Hope those 30-40 will be enough. The story and period time is so interesting.
Andor had perfect runningtime for me.

Talking about the trailer. I think we can admit we are lucky with Star Wars. Trailers tend to insinuate and not give so many dialogs, details and long scenes and we can watch them over and over.
Nowadays there are a lot of trailers explaining an entire movie with correlative setpieces and showing important aspects and best parts.

Carrie-Anne Moss is such a sci-fi queen and I gladly bow to her! Trinity in the Matrix films to Aria T'Loak in Mass Effect 2&3 to now being jedi master Indara in Star Wars
