Maybe the hand floating in space is the rumored Christmas trailer. I only say that b/c of how early on in production it was leaked. Maybe we see the crawl and we follow Luke's lightsaber pass from familar SW scenes and stop at something new to tease us. The lightsaber itself isn't something important to the storyline of the movie, it's just a medium that takes us from familiar to new stuff in the trailer. Then again . . . . . it could be the opening scene of 7 :)

If any older forum members recall, Lucasfilm/20th Century Fox ran a cool Return of the Jedi movie poster/lobby art with a illustration of two human hands holding up a blue light saber. ;)
That reminds me of all this "movie trailer of a floating light saber" jazz.
If the rumored Xmas 2014 day teaser trailer is true, it will really set wheels in motion for us Star Wars fans.
