I would prefer if the franchise moves beyond them.

First time back on the forums for AGES.

recently read about the Lindelof rumours. I really hope there's something actually in development. I've got no interest in the TV series, so i'm hoping we are going down the movie route again in the next 5 years or so. The potential Post-TROS setting intrigues me as the whole of LFL seems to have PTSD from that trilogy but PLEEEASE give us more movies.

So would I ....I have to admit I didn't like any of those characters post TROS, which is a pity as I liked both of them in the first two films, and loved Poe in TLJ.

I often think that they should have given Finn a series or standalone film of his own, like Mando, and focused the ST on the last Skywalkers, as it was, of course, the SKYWALKER saga...either focused on Ben or made Rey a Skywalker by blood. I really hate how they made her a Palpatine.
Still, what's done is done. Sadly.

As I've said before, the thing that did for me, 'Mary Sue' her was the Jedi mind trick, but like you I thought it would be explained in the rest of the ST....there were a lot of theories that she had been trained and had had her memory wiped, which would have been a good explanation.

Please take this off this thread forever please. It's not needed here.
By the time this comes out it'll be 5-6 years since TROS. Despite what some corners of the internet want to believe Rey/Finn/Poe and company are extremely popular characters. The Disney parks feature two high profile attractions featuring these characters. Stories around these characters will be successful if they're told well. Plus, there's a chance the fold Grogu back into the story somehow. The possibilities are endless.

I'm more a 'movie' fan than a tv series fan, so I get where you're coming from.

I wonder, as the 'Skywalker Saga' has been concluded....will Rey now be calling herself: 'Rey Palpatine'?:D

The simple answer is that we're gonna get what will be the most marketable and most popular to the general public. I'd say that's gonna be post- TROS, and likely with the established characters- Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, maybe Lando, etc... The hardcore fan base will find more of our flavor via D+ and maybe, if we behave, the occasional stand-alone theatre release. Although we are still in a well-deserved time out for the reaction to Solo:ASWS. (C'mon y'all, except for the Darth Maul thing, was it really that bad?)

Regardless, LFL needs to sack up and get things going. Putting Damon Lindeloff on the roster could be a great thing for the franchise. Gee, I wonder if he and JJ Abrams would work well together...?

No overall "hate" on TV. TV has put movies to shame for awhile now across the entire industry. However I just can't get into Star Wars in a TV format. I want the big, bombastic pageantry that comes with Star Wars at the movies. I might be showing my bias here but i've always felt the movies are the big, defining, epic stories and TV fills in and expands the universe. Great for those that want those side-stories, adds a lot of depth. Just not for me.

If we are looking post-TROS, i'd love to see a Rey-built academy as the launch point for a new story. Hell with the "end of the sith" and destruction of the FO, we could have a whole new Jedi Temple somewhere in the New Republic. But even they don't want to go so direct. and if that is all really background "gloss", I think TROS is a completely fine launch point for a wholly new story. They could just sprinkle in Sequel Trilogy lore.

Welcome back sir, glad to have you back, you have been missed.

For me, a Star Wars film should be made every ten years, unless it's a one and done, or standalone film. I don't think LFL/Disney should rush and put out another film. I'll be patient for a good film no matter how long it takes... I'm enjoying Disney+ so I can wait, for someone who doesn't care for the tv series I hope they put out something good for you. I'm looking forward to Kevin Feige Star Wars film but I can't see it coming anytime soon since he's the head of the MCU. I want to know how he'll juggle that since someone in his position handles multiple films.

I liked 'Solo'. I think some people didn't like seeing another actor play Han Solo, but Aidan did a pretty good job - loved his first meeting with Chewie - and I'm a huge Harrison Ford fan. I thought it was miles better than TROS.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is great! For me it currently ranks as the 3rd best SW movie ever. It's the most Star Wars Star Wars movie to ever Star Wars! :D

It's a funny universe....some truly great films flopped, I still find it hard to believe that Blade Runner and The Shawshank Redemption weren't box office hits.

A fan I know said that the movies were the main course, the tv series and spin offs the dessert; good term, methinks.

I believe this ship has sailed forever.
I'd really like some explorations of the Unknown Regions. What is the status of the former temple on Coruscant? That not being explored in the sequel trilogy was baffling. DId Palps ruin that forever?

I'd like to see a reworking of the Yuuzhan Vong War set after the Sequel Trilogy, with an older Rey etc.

There are six Thrawn books that have done a ton of world building on the Chiss that set up the threat of the Grysk. I assume the Ahsoka/Ezra/Thrawn live action stuff will touch on this as well. Thrawn only comes to "lesser space" in search of an ally for the Chiss because they know the Grysk are bad news. Seems like whatever Ezra/Thawn encounter must have been super important for Ezra not to return for several years.

It seems like Lucasfilm has been setting up this other threat for awhile now.

IF they decide to loosely adapt the Heir to the Empire trilogy as a sort of "alternate" timeline, here are the two people I would cast as Jaina and Jacen Solo:

    Kiernan Shipka as Jaina
    Noah Schnapp as Jacen
    [IMG]

I mean, just f***ng look at them! Although they look more like Leia than Han, I think these are quite likely features of the Solo twins. They would undoubtedly inherit Leia's brown eyes, yet have more oval shaped heads with sharp facial structures similar to Han.

    What do you think?

I would love a series with Aidan and Donald....I'd like to see what really happened to Q'ira and more Dryden Voss; I thought he was a great villain.

Good idea; I think it was a shame they de canonised the EU!

Worth pointing out Lucas never considered any of that canon. He directed Lucasfilm to ignore it when he started development for the sequels (before selling to Disney). It makes sense really, Lucas introduced so many new elements to lore with the prequels that it would be difficult to make those stories into films.

    Damon Lindelof Films

My best speculation right now is that the next film will feature a male/female leads who are both young adults. They'll likely will be force sensitive and the two will share some kind of connection. There will be a romantic element to this, but that might not be a heavy element until future films.

The new film will be focused on these two characters and their story. However, this is just me guessing... Rey shows up at some point. Maybe at the end, but it won't be a huge part. If the film is successful this will lead to future films about rebuilding the Jedi order and tackling some of the old rules such as "no attachments." I suspect the romance element will be a big part of that. The Ringer podcast from a year ago mentioned Lucasfilm was thinking about this idea and that kind of fits with what we've learned since that point.

Obviously, the main priority is to introduce these new characters in such a way that audiences enjoy the film. For this to work this first film has to be a hit. The they can build off that similar to how Marvel moved on after Iron-man. Stick with what works and move on from what doesn't work.

They might - and I stress might - have Jannah or a child of hers as chief lead as Disney have said they are looking for a WOC to play the main character.
