I'd like to see the movies go backwards in time and look at early Jedi/Sith finding they have abilities but not knowing it's the force as I think they could make some epic movies without the restraints of 'the orders'.
What I mean is that establishing there is a difference between the two sides whilst also taking into account how folks would react to finding they had these amazing powers and what their stories would be to define the sides they end up on and how the sides became what we know them to be.

T.V. Wise, I think it could be quite fun to do a series or two much like the Tales from Mos Eisley Cantina / Jabbas palace books did with the back stories and events from characters from throughout the movies that perhaps only get a few moments movie screen time.

And I have to admit, I'm another member of the make Solo 2 camp as I really enjoyed it as a movie.

That's surely what we are going to get from Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi movie... I would imagine there will be quite a bit of time jumping in the movie and any sequels, because the Jedi Order was formed 25,000BBY and it was 20,000 years later that the Sith came about. I can't imagine that series of events not being fleshed out. It will be very interesting to see what they come up with for antagonists to the Jedi over that massive amount of time, or will they decide to condense huge chunks of the timeline to get into the Sith vs. Jedi? The word "biblical" has been used to describe the story, so it should definitely be interesting, and Canon has seemingly given thousands of years in timeline to tell stories.
I couldn't agree more! I think a live-action anthology series is a no-brainer. Even an animated version of From A Certain Point of View could be great. I think the main thing holding this back at this time is that a live-action anthology would inevitably include established characters, meaning A-list actors, meaning big budget. I do hope they put this into the works eventually, if no other reason it would be an amazing opportunity to see some really talented creators who maybe can't commit to an entire movie or series, but could do a single episode. Literally a Galaxy of potential there.

I'll be totally honest with you here, I've been under a rock and out of the loop with upcoming releases of late, as the way things were happening/not happening, green lit/cancelled, release dates moved etc. became remarkably difficult to keep up with depending on which way the wind was blowing in any given week so the Dawn of the Jedi movie news genuinely passed me by.
Makes the post seem a tad pointless with hindsight so my apologies for stating the obvious. :(
Saying that, the news of the project is most welcome.
My only hope is that because it's out of the usual Disney comfort zone (not having fan favourite characters or places to rely on) they take a decent amount of time to flesh out the story arc and the end point they hope to achieve and make it a coherent story to get to that point before diving in.
Doing a 'next cow to the cash milker' type movie that changes direction depending on ratings would be a massive disservice to what could be an epic tale.

Well, firstly, your post is absolutely not pointless, the thread is about what we want to see from the future Star Wars movies. It was clear to me from your post that you probably weren't totally up to date on the news, so how cool is it that Lucasfilm was having some of the same ideas that you were.

Also, a drum that I will continue to beat loudly and confidently... Although, yes, the past couple of years have been frustrating to us fans with so many announced then cancelled or forgotten about projects, I truly believe that LFL and specifically Kathleen Kennedy, have course corrected at the very least when it comes to making announcements. Three movies were announced at Celebration, far more than most expected, and while very little is known about them, it has been stated they are all well enough into development. The one we are referring to here will be about the Dawn of the Jedi era which is established as 25,025 BBY and will be written and directed by James Mangold.

All in all, it's safe to say the future is bright for SW movies, and surely the TV and publishing divisions are gonna keep up their respective momentum.

As far as a "Disney comfort zone (not having fan favourite characters or places to rely on) "- don't forget, Lucasfilm is the creative force here, and establishing iconic characters is their "thing". Plus, the other two announced projects are firmly set with established and beloved characters, so they are safely "hedging their bet" with setting up a completely disconnected story in the extreme earliest years of the GFFA.

@MBWilson , I honestly hope you are right about the future direction of the films.
I've always tried to be positive in my outlook for new Star Wars content and to be fair, I'm mostly happy with anything that gives me time away in the Galaxy Far Far Away whether it be film or series.
From a personal point of view though, I hope it's more like Andor than the majority of BOBF.

I did do a bit of research after reading your first post and James Mangold does seem to have a good track record so far.

Well, I'm a sucker for anyone who uses Andor as a measuring stick. However, as much as that series rocked me to my core, I also very much enjoyed the overall experience of Book of Boba Fett, and as far as the future, I want more of both series' look and tone. I love how Andor has such a dark and ominous feel with deep and real emotion and weight. Then there is BoBF, which very much feels like watching a live-action comic book, with simple and obvious themes, yet the two exist in the same Galaxy. As expansive as the SW Galaxy is across so many types of media, there is no reason it can't be every bit as vast within each one. That's why upcoming shows like Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew and The Acolyte are so exciting to me. I truly believe we are about to see 3 very diverse styles to tell different stories in a familiar place.

This is the Golden Age of Star Wars.
