Just realized that only Grogu and Luke saw Din's face. Everyone else saw Din's nice haircut and maybe some facial hair from behind and feet away. He can put back on the helmet before turning around towards them

Maybe some have missed this, but Luke in the sequel trilogy is one of the few George Lucas ideas that the production team actually used. Lucas was even taking Luke is a darker direction by patterning him after Colonel Kurtz from Apocalypse Now.
I'm also curious where they go with Moff Gideon from this point. I guess we're gonna see some more of the New Republic.

He can, but Din knows he took the helmet off. His conscience and his honor are the basis of the Creed for him, I think, rather than the letter of the law.

I'm not sure how Din will cope with breaking the Creed. Should be interesting...

He was quested to return Grogu to his own kind. He did what he had to do to accomplish that mission. I don't think his conscience is affected by breaking the letter of the creed. But, except for in Grogu's presence, Din looks almost incapable of functioning when he doesn't have his helmet on. He's like an innocent. I don't know how he'd feel about not being able to put it back on. Then again he is in possession of the darksaber. Perhaps that trumps his obligations the creed now.

Yeah, the darksaber is another wildcard. Din is totally uninterested in it, or in any kind of power/leadership. Of course a reluctant leader is often the best kind, but... I think there's going to be a number of people trying to manage Din for their own interests, including Bo-Katan.

I’m not getting into what was Lucas what was Abrams/Johnson .... obviously the new trilogy was not as Lucas intended in many ways, we know in many ways the new writers ignored lucas’s ideas in many way, we certainly didn’t get the whill’s in the sequel trilogy which we lucas said was part of his plan. So we know the final decision was as to what happened in the new trilogy was with the new writers not with Lucas.

Whether Lucas would have killed Luke off before we got another luke adventure we don’t know 100% either way and at this point it doesn’t matter right or wrong, love or hate what the sequel trilogy did. It did it and that was the last chance to have Hamill as Luke as full fledged Jedi on an adventure and that’s gone now.

(This is off-topic but I'm just gonna mention that a movie/series of Luke being a bad-butt for hour after hour, dispatching whatever came in his way and pulling Star Destroyers out of the sky or whatever -- which seem to be what some people are asking for -- would be excruciatingly boring to watch. Luke needs to either only ble glimpsed as he awesomes his way through enemies [like in Mando Chapter 16], or there needs to be some serious check on his powers for an awesome-Luke story to work).

I'm sure Din will probably embrace removing the helmet at times but not as much as Bo-Katan. He can still try to be mysterious when possible Ike Boba.

After he turned around in the room, maybe he told everyone "you didn't see sh*t!"

Completely agree that all powerful Luke destroying everything would be awful. You need to create jeopardy, for me it’s somthing that has always made me dislike superman as a character it’s really hard to create a interesting story around him as it’s basically he is all powerful or their is kryptonite.

but just cos you do Luke didn’t mean you have to do him as a god like Jedi.

the Jedi weren’t all power as we have seen in the prequels clone wars rebels god knows how many books and films.

So Thier is a middle ground between is a middle ground between only glimpsing Luke and having Luke as an all power god sort of thing. He could have just been portrayed as a very powerful Jedi.

Personally I am trying to square away Order 66 (another of Lucas' less than stellar ideas....) and what we witnessed with Luke onboard Gideon's cruiser......

I can remember vividly my young sons asking the very valid question when seeing Order 66 on screen the first time...."Hey Dad how come Jedi kick the crap out of everyone they fight except during Order 66?"

(Clarification: I'm all for a young Luke series of some sort, as long as Luke is challenged and given room to expand and breathe. TLJ Luke is the most powerful thing I've experienced in the cinema... Chapter 16 Luke wading through Dark Troopers was novel for a couple of minutes, as a plot twist, but wouldn't at all work as the premise of its own story. But again, this is off topic)

To me it's more the shock of betrayal that makes most of the Jedi so vulnerable. (On a side note, if you've ever played or watched cut scenes from Jedi: Fallen Order, that's a great instance of how that might have gone...one minute little Cal is joking around with the clones in the hallway and the next they're hunting him down like a rat in the maintenance tunnels, while his master holds off dozens of them in order for him to escape. And of course season 7 of TCW.)

What's fascinating to me is it appears that entire darktrooper mini plot in season 2 seems to have been for the sole purpose of having very powerful not-people for Luke to cut through in the hallway of that last scene.

Yeah. It pleased a lot of fans (for fan-service, if you will). And Disney obviously want to increase their numbers and profits. Knowing this I've come to accept that the otherwise good storytelling will be interrupted by these moments. The storyline has setup some great elements for the future seasons: Bo-Katan, Boba Fett, Mandalore, Din, the Darksaber, Grogu's blood, Gideon and the Empire. And they used Luke and the viewing figures he'd bring (keeping Disney happy) to finish this storyline and move onto the next. It felt abrupt, and literally knifed through the suspense of the episode, but honestly it wasn't so bad, and the other storylines coming from the series make up for it.

I'm sure glad Luke went force unleashed on Dark Troopers than imperial officers and storm troopers. Perfect enemies for a showcase like this

I was thrilled and gutted by the finale. Why breakup the only father/son relationship Star Wars ever got right?
I miss the little guy already.
    Some points:
How did Djin get his jet pack back? He removed it in Chapter 14 and never retrieved it!
Why didn't Djin give Grogu the knob from the Razor crest flight control?
What did R2D2 say to Grogu to make him leave Djin's side?

So what? Still awesome. Convenience and predictability isn't always automatically bad. I rather see Luke in his prime like this than nothing to just be all realistic or something

Evidently, there's capacity and opportunity for us to have and to appreciate both those aspects (and many others, I suggest). In their appropriate, respective contexts and circumstances.
