Because Din will give it back to him when they're reunited. ;) Presumably Grogu still has the Mythosaur necklace.

There's a fan theory floating around the R2 got Grogu out of the Temple before/during Order 66. I'm not sure I'm on board with that, but it's a cute idea!

How long should Grogu train with Luke before returning? Seems likely to me he'll return and stay with Din for whatever reasons sometime in season 3 or 4. I've posted that I want s3 to start immediately after Grogu left with Luke because of the dark sabre situation but would also like a time jump to give Grogu some time away in the story.

Maybe the first episode of s3 can start immediately after the finale but the 2ns episode establishes that weeks or months have passed by. Maybe even a year by the time Luke brings back Grogu or Din find them somewhere somehow

Maybe until Grogu finds out Luke's last name is SKYWALKER... :p

Maybe he got his macarons stolen by Grogu in Jedi school and that's why Ben turned to the dark side. ;)

This time I don't have to put "sorry if someone mentioned it". Cause I just found it after 20 minutes of reading a thousand posts XD And is your first comment! Congrats and welcome ;)

Yes!! Now I just thought exactly this after my 3d veiwing.

Well, this is the reason Din and Grogu will meet again, cause he don't give the child that Razor Crest ball.

Din: I'll see you again. I promise.

And we know this show is good with promises.

Maybe he pressed that button on his suit that transports it (as we saw during a previous episode), the button that he conveniently forgot to use during Grogu's capture...

Yeah. I keep imagining Din looking at that... Maybe it will feature in Din's further character development.

"Come with me sunshine, or the poorly-done CGI beheads your dad".... I think some posters have suggested it was R2 who rescued from Grogu from Anakin's infanticide.

Luke's portrayal in this episode has made me want to revisit his Legends stories from the same time period, since that's by far my favourite version of the character and the only one I accept as part of my head-canon. Its easily one of the greatest moments in Star Wars for me, I rank it above most stuff from the movies even. This show has been a dream come true so far.

It's been said elsewhere that if he takes off the helmet in public he can't put it back on. And he's done that--twice now, and once with Bo-Katan present. When he goes back to the Armour, if he can, he'll honestly tell her. He may well be expelled, without a tribe, without a mission, without his foundling, left with the darksaber, the weapon the mainstream Mandalorian nation wants to retake Mandalore, with Bo-Katan manipulating him at every step. It sets up the next season nicely.

I loved Luke appearing in the episode, but his appearance was kind of strange. He was wearing the exact same clothes he wore in his next most recent appearance on film, ROTJ. He also looked exactly the same age as ROTJ. It's not a big deal for me but I think a different outfit would have been better.

Darth Vader wore the same outfit for nearly thirty years, but he did spend extended periods of time out of his armour, so I'm pretty sure Luke was able to change and wash his clothing fairly regularly. I'd imagine he had more than one set of black robes, if not then he's a stinky boi.

    Lmao

I think Vader's fashion choices were severely limited. I thought that the suit was a package deal. Luke wearing the exact same clothes he wore five (or seven?) years after ROTJ seems like an amazing coincidence. I actually wonder if his appearance in The Mandalorian is reusing some existing digital object from a video game or something. That may sound ridiculous, I know. I know...

Well that sure would motivate Din to fight back and keep the sabre if he sees through Bo's manipulation and if she tries to kill Din in battle for it

Yeah that criticism was pretty ridiculous. I consider myself a pretty “intense” SW fan(I’m participating on a Star Wars blog after all... (yoda)) and I never noticed it in real time. That was definitely people looking for something to be angry about.

Given the events of the previous episode everything they did was a waste of time. Luke shows up & saves the day. Had they did nothing it would’ve ended the same.

The whole darksaber thing is stupid. Look theres like six people present they couldn’t bend the rules & bypass the whole fight for ownership. Realistically it should only be symbolic because having a sword doesn’t make you qualified to run a planet.

If I were Din I would’ve been like, “You have to beat the owner ?” Toss Darksaber to Gideon. Bo Katan shoots him. Ok that’s settled!

That occurred to me too. This is not post ROTJ Luke who had defied the Emperor and renounced the dark side. This is just meant to be ROTJ Luke.

There was a point to Luke's all black attire in ROTJ. It symbolises his possible temptation by darkness. And at the end, after he'd passed the test, they opened up his tunic to show the light fabric underneath breaking up the darkness.

So what does the reset back to all-black Luke the dark spectre mean? That he's still susceptible to the dark side?

No. It's simply so fans recognise him directly from their video cassettes and action figures. There's a reason why they show Grogu (a fifty year old child) pawing at the TV screen showing Luke in action. This is fan service complete with the fan appreciating it right there in the show itself.
