I don't follow. That's the reason he's wearing the exact same outfit as five years before?

So certain are you? :p What about Ahsoka's survival on Malachor? Where Vader's blade was about end her life before she dis and re-appeared? Something very unnatural happened in THAT moment and I'm not sure time travel can be ruled out.

Kind of my thoughts. Ezra literally reached back through time to pull Ahsoka out of where/when she was. That’s time travel and its canon.

That being said, no thank you. Let’s please not.

Unless time travel is baked into your concept from the jump (Doctor Who, BTTF, Quantum Leap) I think it's really a one time gig or else everything just ceases to matter. Just time travel it away. It's the issue Marvel faces for me now. I enjoyed Endgame a lot but now that time travel is a thing, convince me why the stakes can matter the way they used to.

technically......she was never going to die. I mean, it was a sort of time travel (even though Filoni says it isn’t time travel) because he interacted, but it didn’t change anything. Neither did Ezra step out onto Malachor.

the weird thought of if Grogu were to go back and be Yoda is he’d first be placed at a past point in time, different than what Ezra did, and it’d raise questions of “so why does he take the stance he does on Anakin? Why does he refuse to train Luke?” And it just..makes everything so much smaller. Instead of a whole new addition to a species, it’s really just the same one we’ve already seen.

What it seems to me folks tend to overlook is what the point of that time travel conceit was in Rebels: to reinforce Ezra’s character development. To teach him to accept what happened and learn to let go. It’s that precise lesson he invokes later when Palpatine temps him in the finale. It was a “quicker, easier, more seductive” path that had to be rejected. It was about emotional maturity. Not wibbly wobbly, timey wimey plot potentials.

Time travel is just a storytelling tool. How good or bad it is largely depends on who’s using it. I agree though, once you’ve established it as an attainable ‘undo button’, how do you cripple it so it isn’t always on the table as an option.

Anyway, yes, time travel exists in Star Wars. No, Grogu is not a time traveling Yoda. But it’s a fun idea :)

    I agree.

I think it's one of those can't put the toothpaste back in the tube things and the way Rebels handled it was perfect. It didn't get too far in on it and sort of left it alone. and the films aren't beholden to the animated stuff so it bothers me less there.

Honestly, the more I ponder on it, what is a truly good time travel story that isn't also a comedy where the time travel is played for a laugh so you don't have to think too hard on it. It's a very difficult tool to use properly in a drama.
Obviously "truly good" is a very subjective term but I digress.

Not a fan of time travel in the war among the stars and I hold that firmly. lol

I'm still in happy-floaty mode over the episode. I think I squealed like a school-girl when they said a single X-wing coming in. (luke)(luke)(luke)
I'm also sure I screamed "END HIM MANDO!!!!" when Din disarmed Gideon and had the spear at his throat.

If the Dark Saber must be won by defeating the rightful owner of the blade in combat, then in my opinion, the Saber should have gone from:
    Pre-Viszla to
    Darth Maul to
    Darth Sidious to
    Darth Vader to
Luke. So the real Mand'alor just popped in to make some scrap, grab a baby, and let his droid go for a walk. ;)

Jeremy Bulloch passing away and Boba Fett being "reborn" back into the galaxy is bittersweet. The Force works in mysterious ways...

    The waiting begins.

    Mostly.
But they were quickly shelved in s2 for Bo Katan, Cobb Vanth, Luke, Boba Fett, Ashoka....

To be fair, 3 out 5 characters listed would be new characters for most of the fanbase. Cobb Vanth is a book character, that only hard-core fans will get and was only there to sort of introduce Boba. With the exception of Luke, all would have some connections to Mandalore/history with Mandalore (Katan, Fett, Ahsoka). I don't think they were used for nostalgia purposes.

Din is new. Cara Dune is new. What's his name played by Apollo Creed? He's new. I think they've done a good job myself, of mixing the old with the new. I myself have admitted that while I like Luke, he's not my favorite of all time Star Wars character. And yet somehow I've watched that episode more times than I care to admit, and each time he appears with that green blade I get goose bumps.

Agreed. It's heartwarming to see that, even after all these years, Boba still loves and honours the memory of his father.

The thing is, the new character don't get much time to shine. Who got the most badass scenes? Boba Fett. Ahsoka Tano. Luke Skywalker.

Really... are you serious? Din defeated Moff Gideon, took down a Dark Trooper, was on a moving vehicle that could explode any minute while taking down Pirates with blast armor, took out a bunch of spiders, defeated the Kyat, took out an Imperial base twice.

He's the freaking main character. He should be like this most of the time. But then there are cameos who do the same stuff, but only three times better and faster.

Well, will have to agree to disagree, and yet people would've complained they didn't use them right.
