I really didn't think they'd introduce Luke, but they did it in such a way that he doesn't have to return. As for Grogu is concerned, I think that's the last we see him. That was a powerful and effective good-bye. This story moves towards Mandalore. However, Rey finding a 75 year old Grogu is certainly a story that a lot of people would like to see.
Younger Luke is the right period for these type of stories. The Obi-Wan in A New Hope isn't the Obi-Wan of the Clone Wars. I appreciate these arcs. People change.

I must also admit it was rather shocking to see a person get shot in the face in star wars.

I wonder what happened to Pershing by the way.

Well this episode screwed up just about every bit of speculation I've had, I love how original the story feels. Great episode. I really like the last words Din said to Grogu were for him not to fear. Last words are very important and Grogu will hold onto that. Luke coming in all Darth Vader like from Rogue One really stole the show, everything I wished I saw from him in the sequel trilogy sorta played out in one scene. Bravo to Peyton Reed for directing this episode, even though it was only about 39 minutes they used the time very well. Not that I didn't before but I have faith in Filoni and Favreau, kudos to them for all they have done so far with this series. This was the kind of cliff hanger I'm fine with until next season. I will miss Grogu, looks like it's time for Din move on to bigger things. Can't wait to see what's next.

I was just about to mention this, she originally stole it from Maul's lair on Dathomir whilst being influenced by Nightsister magic. Maul was the rightful owner ever since he killed Pre Vizsla - which Bo Katan witnessed, she knows the backstory better than anyone.

So it makes sense, even if its a bit confusing.

My random thoughts in what was an overall satisfying season finale:

    - Bo asks Mando to join them in their fight to reclaim Mandalore at the beginning of the episode. I think the basic structure of S3 will be the (attempt of?) retaking their planet. Of course, Mando’s possession of the Darksaber – as opposed to Bo’s -- may throw a wrench in the most well-intentioned plans. I think the Darksaber may foster division before they figure out a way for Bo to become the rightful owner and bring unity. (BTW, Sabine just gave the Darksaber to Bo in Rebels … not sure why this situation is any different.)

    - Mando’s spear does a lot of disappearing and reappearing during his run through the cruiser. Especially in the fight scenes.

    - I like how Gideon was not fooled by their tactics from the time they jumped out of hyperspace to the time they had the conversation on the bridge. Cold and calculating. Of course, he never anticipated a full-blown Jedi showing up, which wrecked his whole day.

    - Cara and Fennic make for quite a duo in battle. Cara’s “excuse me” aside to Fennic in the elevator was funny.

    - So Gideon claims he got what he needed from Grogu. Wonder if the kid’s blood was delivered or has it remained on the cruiser? Still wondering who he answers to. Were he the “supreme leader” of this version of the empire he would not have attempted suicide at the end.

    - Grogu’s ears slowly popped up when the X-Wing arrived. He knew someone had answered the call. Gotta be honest, I expected Ahsoka to be the one (not entirely sure why I thought that).

    - Watching Luke be a bad ass was pretty, well, bad ass. When he crushes that trooper like a soda can … holy sh*t! My childhood imagination has been vindicated! Loved seeing Luke in the all-black outfit with the dark hooded robe.

    - Leave it to Artoo to bust in during an emotional moment, add some wonky levity just by his presence alone and bring us back.

    - No cliffhanger ending to mirror the OT? Well, OK. In F&F I trust.

    - So they did not announce a Boba project during the investor’s meeting, instead leaving it for the season finale of Disney’s most wildly popular streaming series to do so. That’s a really, really cool move.

    - Oh, and Bib Fortuna had the same "weapon" stick that came with his action figure all those year's ago! That's where F&F's care really shines through.

So was Boba speaking Mando'a to Bo-Katan? My subtitles wouldn't turn on for the whole episode.

    Awesome.

    - First and foremost. I will be pissed of the 1st 2 seasons become the Book of Din Djarin and the next X amount of seasons become the Book of Boba Fett. Yet that is what I expect. With the announcement that it comes December 2021 which is when Mandalorian Season 3 comes. I wouldnt expect that they would release 2 shows at the same time. Pissed, pissed, pissed.

-This was the right time for Luke to show his bad ass side. 30ish years later is not.

-Hoping in a future season Grogu has learned enough and leaves Luke with Din so he isnt around when Ben turns.

-Am I remembering wrong, but didnt Sabine give the Dark Saber to Bo Katan.

-Gideon saying he has what he needs to use the blood of Grogu to bring order back to galaxy I believe is foreshadowing for Palpatine return.

Random thought and my apologies if it has already been said/asked: Does this mean that Ben kills Grogru or does Grogru slip away at some point? This was the first thing that popped in my head when I saw Luke.

Bloody hell, this show is something else... I'm blown away and feel like a small child on Christmas Eve again. Nobody managed to capture the magic of Star Wars since the original trilogy the way these guys do. Bloody hell. I'm out of words :D

LUKE!!!!!!!!! The moment I saw that X-Wing arrive, I couldn't sit still anymore :D And then the green lightsaber... the glove... And the final reveal when he enters through the blast door with all the smoke around him and just his lightsaber piercing through it... Felt a lot like Vader's entrance at the end of Rogue One, so badass. I thought the de-aging they did on Mark Hamill was pretty good too, they nailed it...

R2-D2!!!!!!!! The comic relief, as usual.

The Book of Boba Fett teaser after credits!!!!! That's surely the Boba Fett show that was rumoured to be running before Season 3 of the Mandalorian? I was surprised when it wasn't announced during the investor meeting. This was worth the wait, and it brings the Legends back to life!

Dark Troopers, Mando v Gideon fight, Slave I in action, man I love this show...

A bit like the story was for years with Boba Fett, unless they pull Grogu out of the temple in a future story either back in Mando's timeline or in the future past TROS then we are lead to assume he met his demise along with other students.

But I'm quietly confident we will see him again at some point

So Din, having gotten the darksaber in combat, is technically the new Mand'alor... How do we think this going to play out with Bo-Katan? Anyone else think Gideon threw the fight with Din so that he and Bo would kill each other?

If they went to all that trouble in the last episode just to locate Gideon, then how did they also track down Pershing flying about in deep space?

    Massive plot hole ;):p

I have some thoughts on this. I don't know if this is the time or the place. I'm just basking in the afterglow of that ending. Wow. Even as someone who never quite was a Luke fan, that was bad ass. Even I had wanted to see that and loved every minute of it. And seeing R2 come in at the end???? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Damn I had goose bumps.

And that Easter egg.... wow. Just wow. I wasn't crying. You were man ;)

As I said I don't remember the exact thing they established about Ben Solo and Luke Skywalker but it was about him being the first or one of his first students with some others. So the fact alone, that he took Grogu as his student pretty much contradicts that, doesn't it?

So what you are saying is an illegitimate owner of the Darksaber (Sabine) can pass it on to anyone (Bo-Katan in this case) making them the legitimate owner of the Darksaber, but the legitimate owner (Din Djarin) cannot do the same? If anything it should be the other way round.

Either you can only win by winning against/killing the previous owner, then Bo-Katan was never the rightful owner either, but Sidious or Obi-Wan were (depending on if defeating Maul counts, which Sidious did or it has to be killing him, then Obi-Wan). So it's a bit wonky...

If the end credit scene is leading to a spin off show, why wasn't it announced at the investors thing? And 2021 seems too early.

It's either an actual book, game or a big episode in mandalorian season 3. I doubt he's replacing Din and his shower at least I sure hope not

The whole "Mandalore's ruler needs the darksaber" definitely feels forced and was only passingly mentioned in Rebels by Satine's mom. First of all, Pre Vizsla had it chilling in his hands throughout the Clone Wars and no one cared. He kept trying all sorts of methods to depose Satine and finally did so by having Death Watch "save" Mandalore from Maul's faked crimes. If all he needed was the Darksaber, why didn't he just wave it around and say, "I have the Darksaber and Satine doesn't, bow down"?

Bo Katan can't accept the Darksaber except in combat? In Rebels and recapped here: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Darksaber#Age_of_the_Empire , Bo Katan didn't even GET it by combat. Ezra took it from Maul, who gave it to Sabine who gave it to Bo Katan.

This episode topped season one finale.

I've been wanting to post but didn't just want to complain about the casting in Believer or the Jedi.

So I'm glad to Absolutely love this episode. Bo not taking the Saber. Which may put her at odds with Din. Also, love the implication that she had heard Fett's voice many times before.

Liked that they didn't use Fett as a glorified transportation. Also, can't wait to see what the book of boba fett has in store for us.

Seeing Luke wreak droids like his father before him was perfect.

Last but not least seeing Din take his helmet off to say good bye to Grogu was touching and can't wait till they reunite.
