The Official The Last Jedi "DJ" Discussion Thread

It's not meant to be an English accent. Lars Mikkelsen is an actor well known for playing Scandinavians and Eastern Europeans in his roles, for example Charles Augustus Magnussen in Sherlock and Victor Petrov in House of Cards. His accent is meant to sound different to the other Imperials.

 

I'm seriously starting to lean towards Benicio Del Toro portraying Thrawn himself in TLJ at this point, it almost makes too much sense in terms of canon and scheduled marketing for it to not be the case, in my opinion. And aboard a certain ship featured at the end of EE, no less, perhaps...

I do have my reasons, and again, it's not really an expectation. He could be anybody, but as I'll quote below, I think there are a couple of reasons as to why this is feasible, at the very least.

 

A blue-skinned humanoid that looks like Benecio del Toro with blue skin will be laughed off the screen. You know it to be true.

 

I hope he's a top strategist in the Resistance fleet, playing unpredictable moves against the FO fleet.

The hope of him being Thrawn will never die.

Some new info on BDT's characters

 

My first thought on reading that was Boba Fett. He's not unlike what you might expect a clone in his 60's if aged naturally to look like. However by the time I got to the end I thought maybe not. Still sounds like a very interesting prospect.

 

Rey's dad. Del Toro was being pursued and knew what would happen to his daughter. He left her with his affiliates on Jakku and tried to get away. Arrested and locked up. Del Toro once worked for the Empire and Rey's origins link to that and Palpatine.

Or something. Maybe.

 

I could buy that. My immediate reaction after reading the MSW rumor was "maybe he's Rey's dad."

Would not be shocked if this were the case.

 

Good point, I originally thought he was either a commander in the resistance fleet or a instructor for TKOR. Slap him Rey if he confesses.

 

With the newly leaked information about his clothing. His belt in particular. Which apparently holds a blaster. Would it not strengthen the popular thought that he is indeed Ezra Bridger due to Ezra being the owner of a blaster/Sabre.

 

This lightsaber got destroyed when Ezra, Ahsoka and Kanan went on Malachor. Now he's got a new one that pretty standard in its design.

DJ could be a codename and stand for Dark Jedi, and could well be Ezra. Not tied to the Sith just a Jedi who lost his way, succumbed to the darkside and used it for petty personal gain rather than power. Ezra goes back to being a thief with darkside powers.

 

I'll never say never but I think it is very, very, very unlikely that Benicio's character is Ezra

 

I would love for him to be either Ezra or Tristan Wren (we need Mandos in this trilogy)

 

someone here mentioned before that he might be Talon Karrde, or at least based on him.
I'd be quite pleased with that, myself.

 

My guess is that he's gonna play some Jabba like character.

I mean in the criminal way not physical.
