I don't think it makes sense at all (based on what we know) that he is Ducain.

Ducain would be looking for the MF surely? Which would link him to scenes with Rey and Chewie, who are in possession of said ship.

But don't we know that his scenes are more involved with the prison set and Finn and Rose?

I can't make the link that Ducain would know that, somehow, Finn and Rose would lead them to Rey and Chewie which would lead him to the Falcon.

Unless he's not looking for the MF at all, and Ducain meeting Finn and Rose is just some sort of galactic coincidence...

 

You may be totally right.
But this picture below makes me suspect his part is a small one.
However it could be small but not irrelevant

 

They seem to have excluded Andy Serkis from that list too. I don't think exclusion from that list means 'small part', but i suppose it could.

 

To be fair, Andy's screen time wasn't that much in TFA.
Nevertheless his character was pivotal in the overall story.
Of course we don't know what's going to happen in TLJ.
But I guess it adds points to the idea that screen time is not a good idicator of the importance of a character...

 

We all know how much screen time Max Von Sydow got...

 

He used it well all the same.

 

No argument there. MVS certainly added some gravitas to start the film off.

 

I have a feeling that BDT is going to have a much smaller part than many people expect.

 

so far, 99.999% of the population have less screen time than MVS, and 101% have the same screen time as BDT....just sayin'...

 

well look at daniel craig and they never even announced him even though he was their "worst kept secret"

that or maybe a big set up for IX but then gain BDT is way more relevant than MVS in terms of *current* fame and credits.

also andy serkis is mainly there for mocap purposes but is able to have a great voice behind snoke...they're probably highlighting the players who are showing their actual faces...could Benicio be playing a non-human?!

 

Max von Sydow's part plagued us for a long time, and he ended up with a pretty small amount of screen time.
Lupita Nyong'o part was another cast member that wasn't in the original script-read photo, and she did in fact end up being an important recurring cast member... and a non-human.

I know there are rumors about his role, but until i see him in a trailer, or it's confirmed by someone i trust... the blue fella is still on the table.

at the end of the day, i will be absolutely gutted if he doesn't have a big role in the rest of this trilogy.

 

In his first scene he will have no dialogue. He might speak by the end of the movie.

 

BDT quit PM because he was reduced dialogue. So I think its safe to say that he thinks the role is meaty.

 

Or he loves SW and is happy to have been a part of it regardless of his role.

 

Not to knock BDT but if he walked because the part was to small before he somehow thought he would either wait for a bigger part or thought the part was beneath him.

Does Gwendolyn Christie show her actual face? I don't think the picture means much.

It is interesting that, as far as I know, BDT was not spotted or rumored to be at any of the locations. There seems to be a lot of secrecy around his part. I suspect his part will be a setup for a bigger part in EP IX. I hate to suggest TLJ is paralleling ESB, but could BDT be playing the equivalent of Lando for our new heroes?

 

According to Vanity Fair, BdT's character is named "DJ". EDIT : he is unnamed, but called "DJ" by the crew, for a good reason...

Looks great. The name DJ not so much. Is he some bounty hunter or mercenary?

 

I think rumor is he is a casino owner.
