The Official The Last Jedi "DJ" Discussion Thread

My bad, didn't read the full article before posting : BdT's character is unnamed, but labelled "DJ" by the crew, apparently for a good reason (Darth J... ?).
He is "a shady character of unclear allegiances" as we already kinda expected.

 

Actually DJ is not his name. Article says he goes unnamed in the film, but Filmmakers referred to his character as DJ. Johnson says that wee will see there's a reason why they called him DJ

Hmmm Benecio as a Dark Jedi... interesting speculation. Still not sure if it works given that we have good reason to believe that Luke was the very last of the Jedi once Yoda died and with BDT's age, it seems unlikely that he was a student at the Academy. BDT may end up being a Merc or otherwise some sort of sketchy agent (not really aligned to any side). I wouldn't be mad if he was a DJ... there would just need to be some considerations for continuity and consistency.

 

But Dark Jedi aren't technically Jedi - members of the order.

I'm so excited for BDT's character! He looks so badass and mysterious, I wouldn't mess with him. Hopefully he has more than a few minutes of screen time.

 

It looks to me like he has a blaster holster on his leg which to me, makes it less likely that he wields a lightsaber.

Yeah Dark Jedi does spring out but seems rather obvious.

This might be totally off but I do think DJ stands for Dark Jedi and I finally.. sort of consider the possibility of Del Torro being Ezra.

I think Kanan dies, and Ezra sort of becomes what Kanan was before, tuning out the force and blending in becoming a smuggler, through the years. I dont think thats the case but its fun to speculate. I just feel like the only reason they arent telling us who he is, has to be because he has a bigger role in Episode 9

 

Since we dont have legends to go on as truth. Our imagination station can still dream:

We may see the rise of the Grey Jedi through Rey. Couldnt there be still a darker sided Jedi? From say the start of the Jedi Order, Yoda in diapers time. Like a Black Jedi, not a part of the formal Jedi Order, like a White Jedi. But maybe broke off from them still keeping the name, Jedi. Like Axel Rose using the name Guns N Roses without Slash or Duff.

 

There are Grey Jedi...Mace and Qui gon were the ones in the movies who were most grey.
