Do you think that SNOPES will reveal that SNOKE is just a bunch of SMOKE?

Why would they? They've never had, or claimed to have character names.

Another thing we can safely bet: The Force Awakens isn't going settle any of that. If the film doesn't mention Plagueis or reference anything that could connect him to that particular character(Which it probably wont, I will bet anyone money on that), we'll still be in for another 2 or 4 years of fans banking on some kind of surprise reveal about 'Snoke' in Episode 8 or 9.

I doubt we'll hear the word 'Snoke' spoken in the film either, to be honest. Maybe once, if that. The First Order will probably refer to him simply as 'Supreme Leader'.

It´s short, has it´s own ring to it and is reminiscent of a real word...

I would like to hear some day the alternatives that were on the desk to choose from.

It wouldn't surprise me. I mean, JJ created the Snoke Monster on Lost, right?

Based solely off of the name and that photo of Serkis... my gut says this guy isn't even a force user.

    I'm probably wrong. We'll see.

We can finally stop saying “Uber.”

 I'm sure that was the case...

Anyhow, the name still seems to line up with the current story leaks about what his character does. Of course, I still have this ridiculous hope that JJ and his team made a completely different false story that lines up with the marketing just to throw people off.

I think Snoke fits in nicely with the host of other odd names In the Star Wars universe. And like most names in Star Wars, if you say it enough, it starts to sound normal.

At any rate, no name can be as bad as Savage Opress from the Clone Wars.

Could this be a Yuuzhan Vong style story line?

Edit: How do you disagree with a question, nothing was stated to disagree with??!!

"I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced." Unless you believe that this is a major marketing ploy by JJ/Disney-there is no Plagueis.

Maybe SNOKE is pronounced Sno-key, like Smokey. And not like coke. That would funny. Especially if he's a SIth Lord. Darth Snokey will destroy you!!!

Ancestry.com defines the name Snoke as a variant of English Snook.Americanized form of Dutch Snoek, a nickname meaning ‘pike’ (the carnivorous fish), or (particularly in Zeeland) from a personal name.

It fits in the Star Wars universe as a name for some random character, but it doesn't fit as a name for the big baddie.
That name has no meaning for me, but it is not as bad as the idea to bring Darth Maul back, that is just :(.

If we're talking about terrible character names from The Clone Wars, absolutely nothing is more awful than Moralo Eval. GET IT? BECAUSE HE'S MORALLY EVIL! Baaaaaaaaarf.
