The Skellig Michael shoot.. could it be for an after-credits scene to hype up episode 8?

I believe along with the episode 8 shoot.. Rian may be filming an after-credits scene to be included with The Force Awakens.

If the rumor of Luke appearing right at the end of the movie is true.. then they may need to do something like this just to ease fans' frustration. I can picture Luke teaching Rey to force lift some rocks, echoing Yoda's training from Empire Strikes Back.. Then Rey breaks a rock in half while Luke looks on: "Impressive." cut to black.

What do you think? I think that would be awesome personally, and it seems that almost every film of this caliber now has some sort of after-credits scene going on. I just can't picture The Force Awakens ending without some sort of extra reminder that there will be a sequel.

After-credits scenes are not really in the spirit of Star Wars.
    I would say nope.

Unfortuantely in this day in age, I believe the after credits scenes have almost come to be expected by movie goers. I really have nothing against it as long as it doesn't cheapen the movie I just spent 2 hours watching. I'll listen to that sweet music during the entire credits regardless.

Only in comic books, and really, only the Marvel-related ones. I really wouldn't expect a post-credits scene. It would be pointless.

No. They won't do anything EP8 related. They might do a R1 teaser though. I expect a teaser trailer for R1 as part of TFA. I don't see them doing it at the end credits, but they might to keep from confusing the audience.

Agreed, Star Wars is supposed to end with sweeping music followed immidiately by the end credits and that's all, a part of me would love to see more of Luke, but an after-credits scene would seem very out of place for a Star Wars movie.

The Phantom Menace had Vader breathing at the end of the credits...

I really wouldn't have a problem with an after credits scene... as long as it is after the credits (I really hope they don't try and do some fancy colourful credits like we see all the time these days). After the credits roll wouldn't hurt anything, especially since most people don't even stay to watch the credits anyway.

Honestly, I won't care if they have something at the end or not. I will just be happy to see a Star Wars movie in theaters with my son.

Did Kristian Harloff not report that TFA would have a Rogue One post-credits scene?

I haven't watched any of the Jedi councils yet, but I sure hope there isn't anything Rogue 1 related AFTER, that will just confuse the average movie goer. A teaser or trailer before TFA would be fine but not an end credits thing, it would give too many people the impression that R1 is the sequel to TFA.

This. R1 teaser after TFA's credits makes no sense at all.

I would ABSOLUTELY HATE a post credits sequence in a Star Wars film. I love them in the MARVEL films, they've become an artistic stamp/staple of theirs, and that's fine, but COME ON!

Who suggested this was a good idea? Who even speculates at other websites that this is a cool possibility?

Have you no SOUL?? Can we leave just the SLIGHTEST bit of artistic integrity in Star Wars, please? It's enough we have retcons and plagiarism out the ass with this film from the sounds of it at least, no 20th Century Fox fanfare, flashbacks, a stupid crossguard lightsaber gimmick, Luke Skywalker reduced to a cameo and no Original Trilogy cast interaction, etc, but do we really need a post credits sequence too because other popular and successful movies are doing them, as if Star Wars wasn't popular enough? I mean how greedy and soulless are these people? How friggin' out of touch does somebody have to be to think this is a good idea?

Why not just throw some pointless product placement in there as well?

"Where has Luke been hiding out all these years?

...At Burger King, chowing on a Bantha Burger with some Force Fries!"

    vader burger.jpg

You know they want to and would totally do it if they thought they could....maybe even regardless of whether they could or not. The new Rebel-- sorry, Resistance base will be inside of a Starbucks.

Vader breathing was part of the soundtrack and not in any way a "post credits" sequence. Gimme a break...

I stay for the credits of most films, but I ALWAYS stay for the Star Wars credits, not because I expect some post credits scene, but because I love the MUSIC, and at this point, after hearing Luke only gets a cameo and there's no OT cast interaction, the thing I'm most excited for is the John Williams soundtrack, because he I at least know never disappoints, and has made even the most terrible of films bearable because of his perfect work and irreplaceable talent.

John Williams may save the film for me. No matter what you think of the prequels, his scores were still excellent and memorable all the way, like they always are.

I guess (if the report is correct) that Lucasfilm and Disney think that showing a (teaser) trailer of R1 with TFA would be a good idea. While awareness for TFA seems to be high, the same cannot be said for R1. TFA is bound to do good business and a (teaser) trailer with TFA would definitely increase awareness for the next SW release.

Lucasfilm and Disney could show the (teaser) trailer either before or after TFA. My preference would be a trailer before TFA, but I think the reasoning behind the choice is that they think (a) that showing the (teaser) trailer before TFA could make the audience think that the actual movie is beginning or (b) that the audience has already forgotten about the (teaser) trailer when the movie has ended.

After credits scenes aren't really Star Wars tradition. So I would have to say, no after credit scene for this film. Maybe I'm wrong. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing one.

But, I can guarantee you Luke will be in this film for longer than they say. I guarantee it. There's no question there.

I'm seeing a lot of comments saying that after-credits scenes aren't in the tradition of Star Wars, but neither are flashbacks..

Yeah... because Mark Hamill spent 2 weeks on set, and is going to show up in most the movie...

It would be funny if Benicio (rumored villain for Ep VIII) appeared in the post-credits sequence. Didn't he appear in the Avengers post-credit sequence or something to set up Guardians of the Galaxy?

Flashbacks are a much more common cinematic technique than after credits scenes. Marvel does them, and that's about it. Star Wars probably won't do it.
