    It wasn't clear on BOM that it was a Thursday release, but either way the weekend number they're showing is this surprisingly low number:

    So, after Venom took everyone by surprise with a $90m debut, the much delayed Bond outing fell significantly short of expectations with a humbling $56m opening - making it the second major release in a row where way out guesses meant none of us has scored anything :confused:

    On our leaderboard there were some much more on-point guesses for Venom and Free Guy, where notably @Bluemilk nailed the second week for the pseudo-Spider and @Meister Yoda went one financial step further and separated the guesses of our resident Kylux duo for Free Guy, realigning them to equal ground once again...

    yep, i'm genuinely surprised it was that low - Venom opened pretty much 60% bigger. all i can think of is that it's representative of the demographic for the two films, i.e. more young folk going for the comic book shenanigans, while the long running Bond franchise appeals to an older audience (Craig has been in role for 15yrs) many of whom are likely more covid cautious and not wanting to head back to the cinema yet.
