That Yuuzhan Vong...Snoke.... possible paralel is what intrigues me the most.

Yuuzhan Vong invasion happens around 3 decades ABY which is roughly the time we are now in Sequel trilogy. It started by few decades of provocation and probing in the unknown regions. Invasions happened trough Vector Prime---it was a charted point that enabled evading strong natural energy field that protects outer edges of the galaxy. In the story about Jakku we are dealing with such vectors, ancient charts that enables navigation trough dangerous Unknown regions and outer rim.
It ended as near genocyde of galactic civilization.
Now , Thrawn's race(Chiss) were amongst first galactic inhabitans that started to meet that invaders at first only occasionally, untill full invasion, Chiss called them "Far Outsiders".They called themselves "Choosen race".

Is this the shocking truth of New trilogy? Imperial remnants, the First Order, a pown captured and controlled by Snoke's"Choosen race" and are used to destabilize and weaken rest of the galaxy, and than "Second Order" (second wave?) strikes ,unknown aliens?

@McDiarmid nice to see you in the thread . This whole Snoke is the threat that Thrawn warned the Empire about for me started out as a bit of far out speculation but the more I think about it the more it has the possibility of fitting in with the direction the story group is going. I also hope that the Story Group don't kill him off in Rebels as he deserves at least a couple more books.

'Star Wars: Thrawn' author Timothy Zahn hints at villain's future
    BY SEAN KEANE

The author admits that he's not sure what Lucasfilm has planned for the character beyond the fourth and final season of "Rebels" (set to air this fall), but he's pitched two sequel novels that would take place shortly after "Thrawn" to publisher Del Rey and has plans for more tales later on in the timeline — if the villain survives that long.

"I got a couple of story ideas that can be tailored to however they leave him," he says.

I want to start by saying, I love this book. Other than Lost Stars, this may be my favorite one so far.

I just love how much character development there is with Thrawn, without even giving away his true intentions. I truly do believe that this threat he speaks of in the outer reaches is something Snoke-related. I really hope we get some more Thrawn novels!

For me, this was my first introduction with Thrawn, and it was a good one! I haven't seen the Rebels show so the Arihnda Pryce storyline was a little bit confusing for me at the start, but it came together nicely in the end of the book. Thrawn's character I really liked. He's not evil for just being evil, he has more layers. Besides Thrawn I really liked Eli Vanto and his story arc. I wonder if we will ever see him again now he joined the Chiss, but I hope he shows up in another novell or comic.

Thrawn, is not my favorit book so far but it's up in my personal top 5

I liked this one a lot. I too really hope to see a novel solely dedicated to Thrawn and Anakin, and not just references and/or interludes in this next book. I think what made this book so much better than others is that each book usually 1/2 - 3/4 of the time centered around the character you're actually wanting to read about and then the rest of it focuses on some other character. (Lords of the Sith is a prime example of this.) In my opinion, the second plot usually is tedious and makes me want to skim through it. But with this book, both plots are actually compelling. Admittably, Pryce's arc was a little slow at the start, and Thrawn's could occasionally get a bit tedious, but they were both superb to me.

I read the original Thrawn trilogy, as well as Outbound Flight and Mist Encounter, earlier this year. As others have stated the first two chapters play out almost identically to the short story, Mist Encounter. I guess others could say that that's lazy, but I thought that it was neat. I'm not sure if the Chiss Assendency will ever be in the movies, but I can see them showing up in a post-ROTJ animated show... and maybe, Thrawn could be encountering Luke, Leia, and the Rebellion/New Republic again, just like in Legends!

As Thrawn is now coming to live action I thought I would give this thread a numb :).
