Title for Episode 8

Episode VIII: The Holiday Special Strikes Back
Episode VIII: I Was a Teenager Werewookie
Episode VIII: The Wall (Everyone speaks in Pink Floyd lyrics; or, Roger Waters takes over soundtrack duties and just puts The Wall on and calls it a day)

 

Episode VIII The force takes a shower and eats breakfast
then followed by
Episode IX The force commutes to work

With a spinoff movie called The force and my bagal


Legacy Of the Empire

 

I think that this would be a fantastic title for Episode VIII, but I would drop 'Sith' from the end to make it flow better. Think about it, 'Star Wars: Episode VIII, The Rise of the Forgotten' just sounds amazing.

 

I take your point, the sith end to the title might be to obvious, there is a ring to it.

 

Star Wars VIII: A Sinister Disturbance

 

My two cents:

-The word "Rise" (or "Arise") is definitely due. Optionally, plural or present tense verb, with an "S". "Birth" or "Rebirth" could work too. But...

-"Attack/Clones" and "Empire/Strikes Back" are the previous two middle chapters, both of which refer to the dominant political/military force in the Galaxy, which are commiting violent, or powerful, thematically-important actions against the lesser force or group.

V: The [Group] [Actions] Back
I would say "Back" is part of the action, and therefor probably isn't that important to the system.

-Also important, I think, is the state of the Galaxy at the end of the trilogies' first acts. A New Hope puts the Rebellion in a better spot against the Empire, but the Empire is still dominant, putting them in the next film's title. The Phantom Menace ends with the Sith in a seat of "Supreme" authority in the Republic, leading to the next required step in the plans of the dominant power. For the Republic and Empire both, this was keeping a weaker power from becoming an equal force, whether that is the TF/CIS, or the Rebellion.

-The theme and direction of the trilogy is key to guessing the next titles.
For both the OT and PT, act II was a problem for the good guys. The Clones were a tool for Palpy's evil plan, and the Empire is obvious.

-Assuming the theme is the same as it was in George's earlier notes, which was rebuilding, moral and philosophical problems, and passing on what you've learned, the opposition to the good guys is going to be the roadblock of Galactic unrest, which in a moral/philosophical sense would probably be the Dark Side itself, which as a force of nature has one goal: To sew strife.

Sorry for the "TL;DR" post, just thought we'd make better guesses if the pattern/history was laid bare.

Anyway, action words that fit this pattern could include "Clash", which could work if the Resistance and First Order are equally dominant, and "onslaught", as in "Dark Side Onslaught".

Dark Side Onslaught and The Dark Side Rises (Yeah, unfortunately too close to The Dark KNIGHT Rises) are as good as I can think of, sadly. But we have plenty of pattern and precedent to make some educated guesses here!

I think the "Attack" or "Strike" aggression is made up for by the fact the Dark Side is inherrently aggressive.

 

Being serious though i'll take a stab at this:

EPISODE VII: THE FORCE AWAKENS
EPISODE VIII: A GALAXY DIVIDED
EPISODE IX: THE GUNGAN PROPHECY

 

Pretty solid Episode VIII title! I can definitely see that one.
I don't think the word "Jedi" will get repeated though.

I like Star Wars Episode VIII: End of the Resistance, because it definately fits the dark theme for the middle episode of each trilogy. Also its implication could be taken both ways with the First Order crushing the Resistance or the Resistance wins, thus disbands, and forms a new republic or something else.
